hi all,

can i check what is the idling rpm from cold start? at what rpm you consider the bike is warm up and ready to move off?

What engine oil everybody use normally for SW? any fully syn with spec 10W40?

How frequently we should change the engine oil? every 3k and oil filter in alternate oil change?

any additional maintenance guidelines will also be greatly appreciated/.

Thanks and best regards

Have A Nice Day.

Hi yifanz,

for more tech info u can refer to here as alot of Swinger's actually contributed to this thread. Be it from the official manual or personal experience.

Im on Motul 7100 EO , i change EO on every 5k mark (just chged mine last week). Will chg OF (oil filter) every 2 EO change.

If u can, Transmission oil on every 15k ?

According to some senior's here, our idling shld be between 1k to 1.2k after warm up.

Cold start RPM shld be higher due to Auto Choke.

Hope this brief info helps.

Regards.

I move when 2nd temp bar comes on.

Idling normally at 1K plus 1 line (after warming up). That'll be close to abt 1.2k rpm. *Some ppl may suggest 1k plus 2 lines (1.3k++) but that's too stressful for me.

Oil change at 5k. 2 liters 10W40 enough. *Most ppl use Mutol 7100 or Maxima Extra 10W40.

Oil filter change every 2 EO change (10k). 2.2 liters EO used.

Transmission oil change together when Oil filter changed. Use the balance EO for transmission (320ml needed).

v300... I haven't tried but many users said the oil won't lasts beyond 3k and its more expensive.

Guess I’m the most “wasteful” on my 43k+ kms ride… maintenance schedule:

At every 5k kms visit to kopitiam motortiam…

. change full synthetic EO; currently using maxima extra 10w40 (considering others)

. change stock oil filter

. change transmission oil; currently using 10w40 EO (decided better to follow owners’ manual)

At 15k/30k/40k kms…

. clean and check clutch assembly (strip, check and clean clutch pegs, pivot, bell, etc)

At 20k/40k kms…

. change sparkies (denso iridium IUH24)

. change transmission set (belt, rollers & clips) at 20k & 40k kms; belt can last 30k kms but kiasi due to touring

. change tyres (front & rear) every 20k (about 1 year for me)… “shoes” are very important

Other wear-n-tear items changed:

. coolant at 2nd year; using maxima coolaide

. variator plates around 35k kms

. battery, using Yuasa YTZ14S

Akan datang:

. bleed/change brake oil (still using oil from factory)

. brake pads (still using set from factory)

. clutch pads (still using set from factory)

EO used... all full synthetic

. now using maxima extra 10w40

. liqui molly 10w50 (w40 is semi-syn); super smooth (thin), love it for sinkapor riding but felt not as suitable for "long-legged" touring

. motul 7100; didn’t like the new formula, bike feels rough after 3+k kms

. maxima extra 15w50; w50 weight is too heavy, slightly sluggish pickups

p/s: do not use too thin or too thick oil for the final transmission

Now considering other full synthetic EO...

(a) Amsoil 10w40 synthetic motorcycle oil $22/qt

https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/mcf.aspx

(b) Redline 10W40 Motorcycle Oil $20/qt http://www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?pid=109&pcid=13

1 US quart = 0.946352 metric litres

likely not use them as gear oil but buy maxima 10w50 separately as gear oil

The givi wind shield, is it available in SG...?

yes... $280 at Cyclenet P/L (under Mah P/L) along serangoon just after kallang river

contact Ms Elyn at 62998620 or email [email protected]

need to pay first on order and wait for next shipment (abt 3 months)

note that new design comes with an airflow window, old ones no more stock

spoke to her and she told me she received quite a few enquiries on SW windshield recently... you guys?

i'ld like to have the bigger shield but afraid of not being able to see over the shield on rainy days, still considering :p

50km drop is a too much.

If it happens suddenly, then normally should not be the air/fuel ratio. Even if engine out of syn also won't affect that much.

Any changes to bike performamnce other than FC? i.e. rpm?

Been like this for a few refuel?

Must check plugs, air filter, petrol leaks or leaking joints to/from the throttle bodies?
