Cheap and good......

i think that's the best choice worldwide. Even in europe they will highly recommend diablo too.

So dun think there's an issue ba

many of us are using diablo scoot... cheap n good at around $170+ for a pair (include installation n front balancing).

i've personally used 2 sets and intend to continue with this unless maybe going over to the "dark side"

my feel is that these tyres may be a little slippery when new but good grip returns once they are run in :thumb:

oic. i din know its the 1 u guys using. :cheeky:

thx all for the info ^_^

As a matter of fact, Platinum and Iridium are some of the worst metal conductors. The reason why Platinum and Iridium spark plugs are used is for longevity only. They can last up to 100,000 miles. If you are looking for longevity, they are for you. If you are looking for performance, choose silver.

peng yiu... copy-n-paste from nology webby ha

http://www.nology.com/silver.html

hanor hanor... totally agree that silver is the known best current/heat conductor than platinum or iridium and what knot. but how much are you willing to spend on the so called silver plugs?

if $$ and durability is not an issue... go for it.

if you think logically, the tips of these silver plugs are likely NOT made of pure silver... consider the properties of silver and you'll know the reasons are simple ^_^

pure silver is expensive, reason why its also used for ornaments. if you're an engineering or physics guy, you'ld know that although silver is the best conductor, it is not commonly used because of its material properties; pure silver is not suitable as electrodes in spark plugs unless mixed with others materials into an alloy... so what you're actually paying for is likely an alloy with some silver in its composition. how much or how little silver is inside are things we don't and won't get to know.

why not pure silver?

pure silver is soft (slightly harder than gold). try applying pressure on a pure silver ring with your fingers and it'll go out of shape; guess its not difficult to imaging what'll happen to a pure silver tip in the combustion chamber. another property of pure silver is it turns black when in contact with sulfur. we're gonna get dirty plugs even if the pure silver tip miraculously survives the beatings from "petrol explosions" in the combustion chambers.

Silver tarnishes black with a surface layer of acanthite (silver sulphide), especially when placed in proximity to sulphurous compounds.

guess what are the compositions of the hydrocarbon fuel we are currently using?

Gasoline can also contain other organic compounds such as organic ethers (deliberately added), plus small levels of contaminants, in particular sulfur compounds such as disulfides and thiophenes.

no one material is the best as all has their pluses and minuses. similarly, iridium plugs are certainly NOT the best, but it provides performance stability over longer usage; its denseness/hardness and high melting point properties allow the tips to stay in "shape" longer. in fact, the tips are also not made of pure iridium but an alloy composed primarily of Iridium with rhodium (for anti oxidation).

i still remember paying >$200 for a 1m long hifi interconnect cable during my siow hifi days in the early 90s; these rip off cables (i was a carrot those days) are still around and pp are willing to splurge just because they use silver in the cores. how much difference? hmmmm... worth the $$... hmmm :p

shallow pocket riders? use normal plugs for economy

some spares in pocket riders? upgrade to iridium plugs for improved performance

deep pocket riders? go for it mann... silver plugs to get every juice out from the engines

to each their own

haha. ya lor.

I tried using brisk silver tip plugs for my car, feeling not too bad. 4 plugs cost me $120.

For audiophiles, of course cables does makes a difference haha. Looking at it you might have tried kimbercable before. I'm using them too for some of my systems.

IUH24 is iridium plug?

yes... see this

http://www.globaldenso.com/en/products/aftermarket/plug/power/spec.html

and http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php/113114-Silverwing-400cc-600cc-Tech-Corner?p=4793865&viewfull=1#post4793865

Honda Silver Wing FJS 400 (Euro) owner's manual indicated that we can use the following spark plugs:

__ Denso: U22FER-9, U24FER-9 (IUH-24 / 24D not stated but cross referenced)

__ NGK: CR7EH-9, CR8EH-9 (CR8EHIX-9 not stated but cross referenced)

e.g. IUH24 means 0.4mm diameter iridium tip, 10 diameter x 19mm reach (half thread) x 16.0mm hex, heat range 24. IUH24D is same but has no u-grove at incone1 ground electrode.

The tech corner thread said Denso iridium plugs can last 50k km...so long ah? Typically, do u always change yr iridium plugs at 20k km intervals? I think at 50k km, the plugs should be past their optimal performance already rite?

i'm pretty sure the plugs can perform till 50k km... the denso iridiums in my car is due for change only at 100k km :p

basically, my maintenance schedule is way earlier than the service periods recommended by the manufacturers. for e.g. i change...

... full sync eo & filter every 5k (even thou can easily last till 8k)

... transmission oil every 5 k

... clean/service transmission assembly every 10k

... 3-in-1 every 20k (even thou belt can last easily to 30+k)

... tyres every 20k (even though can last easily to 30+k)

... plugs every 20k (even though can last till 50k)

see the pattern? 5k, 10k, 20k, etc
