i oso wana go there make a dummy key juz for opening my front left & seat compartment.

some SWingers added an electric release to the under-seat compartment lock. i.e. press a button will do (when ignition is on), no need key. left glove compartment cannot cos using turn type locking.

oic... but my main purpose for a dummy key is dat my IU & cashcard will be lock in the left compartment and whenever i go to a carpark like LOT1 & 4get to prepare my cashcard, i can juz open it with the dummy key to get the card w/o switching off my bike. :cheeky:

thanks to the Honda Silverwing Scooter Group, some1 reccommend me this website.

http://www.aerostich.com/14-mil-headlight-shield.html

its not costly and seems to be quite a good product. any1 use b4?

some SWingers in US have used it and posted negative feedback... that thing is something like raceshield just that it is very much thicker. main complaint is that it tends to turn yellowish/dirty and makes bike look ugly. user didn't mention whether it really prevented cracks or not, probably not yet encounter.

my guess is, the thick rubber might just prevent a crack/scratch as long as the impact isn't too great. not so sure if riding at 130km/h and pebble is about size of a roller and impact head on. headlight lens may not shatter (held together by the rubber), but i'ld expect cracks. same applies to raceshield.

generally, as long as the soft rubber "shield" plastered directly onto the brittle thin plastic lens is not hard solid, the inward compression on impact is likely to crack the lens. exception is when the thickness of the "cushion" (depends on material type) is sufficient to absorb the compression energy sufficiently such that the residual impact does not reach or becomes insufficient to damage the lens.

ps: added more info

so far i've used twice b4 for my cbr900 and R6. they r good at protecting against stone chips even at high speed. i'm riding at 220km/h in msia for cbr900 and my headlight is good :thumb:

got them cos when i rode to batu pahat with the cbr400, my headlight got a small crack...

the only thing gotta be careful is dat when washing, advisable to wash with your hands instead of using sponge or cloth to prevent scratch.

cons? any1 can easily take it away in a second.

is it the race shield?

actually, those products dat i asked previously was to find out how good they are. i'll still use the plastic light-guard if i cant find any other thing dat is at least equal level of protection as the plastic.

yes, that's the race shield thingy.

i have confirmation from Juzz Wheelzz that raceshield protects the headlight lens mainly from scratches and from cracks on small pebble light impacts. for heavier impact (especially head on), raceshield can only protect the lens from shattering. yes, the lens will crack but not shatter into pieces as they are held together by the raceshield.

the protection i need is mainly for touring. getting a direct hit on the lens when running abt 130+km/h along NSHW with only raceshield isn't going to be of much help to prevent cracks. that's why the thick acrylic cover previously sold by motoworld is better.

IMHO, pro abt race shield is it is visually invisible & con is it only provides a soft protection.

pro abt plastic light-guard is it gives a hard protection & con is it is visually obvious & can be taken at anytime, anywhere, any place.

since we got a huge compartment space, juz have a habit of taking it off b4 we leave our bike & mount it on b4 we move off lor. juz becareful not to pluck it out too hard as the adhesive of the tape may come off.

my previous bike got no box, so i din take it out. tink i got no excuse now... :cheeky:

no worries... it was raining so i reckon no one's joining me liow

bought a garmin 5" huge screen for myself and a holux 4.3" for my brother.

for those looking for a gps but dun wanna pay for premium for a garmin set, can consider this entry level unit (not waterproof)... holux 4.3" 61F is clearing stock at only $99 nia.

its not superb but cheap, good enough to solve common navigation woes. important thing is, it is using SLA map which is very accurate in sinkapor and MFM map which is rated among the best community map for sinkapor-malaysia. cross into thai border, may even see southern thailand covered (MFM covers southern thailand for garmin, not sure about for holux but very high chance have).

http://www.eastgear.com/holux-gpsmile-nav-62e-car-navigator-2.html

http://www.eastgear.com/sitex2010/SITEX2010_Holux.pdf

notes:

... it is NOT WATERPROOF

... if you wanna mount it on bike, need to do some fabrication as the holder is designed for cars windscreen.

... RAM mount doesn't have a dedicated cradle for the 61F but can always find something with nearest fit and mod a little. e.g. get a craddle that can fit the 4.3" body without dropping out, if loose (too deep) can add some rubber cushion to the back to tighten the fit.

but if don't mind paying, get the garmin 1250 (3.5") or 1350 (4.3") or 1460 (5") and RAM mount has everything you need for them :p
