Dun plan to get involve in their feud. ;)

Yes AC Motor is a wee bit out of the way for me too as I live in the west. But would probably

still pay him a visit.

Thanks again for the info and advice.

I'll give the Maxima a go the next round..:)

The SW and SW-T almost different in outlook.

However, the engine and frameworks are the same and therefore the reliable smooth performance.

Price wise, a 08 SW currently costs around $8k (individual) to $10k (bike shop).

Haven't notice any SW-T 2nd hand on sale recently but expect $12-$14k (individual or bike shop). *Brand new is $18k++ OTR.

Hmm... if my info is correct, there might be 1 selling soon.

Hi bros,

Need your advice regarding insurance. Current insurance with Allianz ending soon, and they gave me a letter saying they wont do new motor insurance anymore. NTUC quote me $440 for Third Party Fire Theft and $752 for comprehensive. I am riding for only until the end of the year after which I am selling the bike. Do you think it is worth it to get comprehensive for my case? I am 27 with 7 yrs riding experience. Bike registered in 2004.

suggest you get quotes from other insurers as well... e.g. AXA, AIA, MSIG, Allianz, Mitsui, etc.

listed on OneMotoring (reference only cos not up to date) http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onemotoring/en/autoshop/motoring_directory/motorcycle_insurance.html

if nothing happens from now till end of year when you sells bike, whatever insurance you have is of no issue, other than paying more or less :p

if damage is minor (e.g. abrasions on fairings due to simple skid or drop) and can't claim, costs to restore bike to some desired selling condition won't be much of an issue. there're still savings as long as

but for something more unfortunate {touch wood}, that's where the additional $200+ premium makes the difference. note that restoration cost can easily exceed 4 figures.

few K claims over $200+ additional premium, worth ka liow :thumb:

one thing to note is that comprehensive cover doesn't mean insurer will pay all restoration costs, something we all hope :p

our bikes (applies to cars too) are insured up to market value and insurer's assessment of market value is usually much lower than our version of market value (to us, market value is selling price). i.e. regardless of damage, max they pay is market value.

more tricky for old bikes where difference between the 2 market values becomes bigger. e.g. one may value his 2004 bike at $5k (thinking that he can sell it for that price), but market value to insurer could only be less than ½ of that, based on some formula on remaining COE, assessed value of "body", etc.

Thks for the info! Was the SW-T already selling at $18k est in '09? $12k a reasonable price for a '09 model?

Given a Swing rider, what are the key issues to look out for when purchasing a used Swing?

Pls enlighten!

it depends on what you want... we have bros who use as short as 10cm to as long as 1m (going 1 round); longer means brighter but cost more. i'm using the standard white LED strip which is about 30cm.

most of us use white but nothing stops the biker from using other colors, e.g. red (something like combat info centre for better night vision).

... currently looking for jdm silverwing.

why specifically JDM? you wanna use the T-mode for faster pickup?

JDM generally consumes more fuel than FJS. faster? maybe maybe not

there're many posts about difference between FJS & JDM at tech thread... do check it out for more details
