Went to Regina after work today with gf... tried the Caberg hyperX and Nolan N43, both not suit my head, my ear feel uncomfortable :(. Then tried the Nolan N103, fit nice but really big and heavy...:(

End up bought the OGK Avand open face x 2, as it fit nicely for us and quite comfortable for the cushion...:) Initial quoted promotion price was $180, after neg go down to $160 and final deal at $300 for both :p. Tink they are clearing stock bah, cos i need gunmetal but only left black colour... :sian: Anyway feel happy too, if i buy this helmet few mth back, it was $210 each....now save abt $100, not bad liao lah. :thumb:

Btw, i feel the Caberg hyperX is comfortable than Nolan N43, but Nolan N43 still no stock for D ring type which is PSB approved one.

actually can see their production date of the helmet..

not too sure about helmet.. but what i know.. an Arai helmet lifespan is 5years(without dropping or have any significant impact).

flip up the head cushion, check area nearer to the rear... you should see a sticker showing "made in china" and "expiry dd/mm/yyyy"...

... just kidding :cheeky:

like HelmetBOX! say, every helmet has a lifespan, regardless whether it is a $50 budget one or a designer high end unit that costs >$1k. limited life is due to material fatigue in the expanded polystyrene foam inner shell and plastic/fiber outer shell, in addition to wear and tear factors.

OGK avand is quite a nice comfy helmet. But I doubt the ventilation can fight Arai. At most on par w J-Force. J-Force at $450 is e lowest le, their Shoei's margin is very low due to some reason that I cant post here.

My only dislike for e OGK is e build, paint quality n the plastic shell. The visor also scratch rather easily. But then, for a below $200 budget, its easily one of the best.

Another helmet u can consider is MHR. apparently, they are Arai imitates.. Air vent pretty good too.

yes, i'm a fan of MHR OF505, the cheap and good Arai wannabe... very good ventilation :thumb:

now using the 3rd unit (paid $75), my first OF505 cost only $40 from 219 some 3yrs back.

btw, i just posted something about helmets... an article from Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) of US

juz sharing. i may not be 100% correct but below is wat i learn from websites.

yup, average lifespan of a helmet is around 5 years. someone assumed to me b4 dat arai can last 7 years which i dun belief. i "sealed" up my arai raphide (cant rmb the actual name...) few years ago when it reach age of 5 from the date of manufacture. helmet once drop/hit hard, advisable to change. it concern life & death, no joke...

its best to view review from a good website or from a few websites to make comparison. oso can see from snell/dot if they approved the model too.

chairman is rite. find the date of manufacture inside the helmet. u have to see under the top cushion. often is at the side. so far i din see any 'expiry date' on a helmet b4, only manufacture date. if u really see a helmet with only expiry date, better 4get it.

Ya i also agree. I learn the lifespan helmet the hard way. Once when I was in the G company, I was a member in the safety committee. During a safety audit, the auditor brought up the issue of our safety helmets, they are all expired. Bcoz the whole batch of safety helmets were manufactured in Oct/1997 and that year was 2005.
