if not wearing full face, at least wear standard open face ba. the 3/4 one aint very safe.. high possibility of not staying on your head properly in "touchwood" situation...

and if you are going for open face. just go for the most comfortable you can afford... In terms of safety, all are the same. You will be paying for comfort and ventilation... Can get from $40 to $800 for open face.. see your pocket deepness, and how much you willing to pay lo.

The Hyperpro springs are for use with all Silverwing 400 and 600. Bitubo MF019 also just one type. Pinasco 10442027 also just one type.

In 2004 after I passed my CL2 I dumped all my open face and convince at least 2 of my friends to use full face full time. Those who got into accident before knew that the road is harder than you think. My friend buang at PG at more than 100kph, face still very nice. Yes he also wearing glasses. Make an effort to change your helmet every 3 years. Cos the polymer might be harden due to our weather....

Is the polymer that crushes and absorb the impact. Those wearing >$500 branded FF and think their helmet can last them 10 years, think again. I myself change helmet every 2 years or so.

Guys ... you all wear full-face for overseas trip ?

If I dont like full-face, any recommendation ?

wanna consider the Caberg HyperX modular helmet?

http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/caberg-hyperx/review.htm

i'm using it as my primary helmet, including the chin bar... bought it mid-2011 for around $300 from regina but dunno price got change or not.

that's my recommendation... see my 0.02 cents review below

ps: remarks in blue are newly added

My few weeks hunt for a helmet ended with the Caberg HyperX. Others in the consideration list were N103 (very comfortable but shell is way too big), Konda (reasonably priced but can't find a good fit), AGV Longway (too uncomfortable/squeezy on the ears), Zeus 3000 (cheapest but finishing not as good).

The HyperX comes in many color options (including graphics) but I chose the plain metallic silver which not only matches my "silver" Silver Wing but it could well be the nicest among the plain colors; Regina has white, gunmetal, matte black and glossy black at the time I bought the helmet. The white piece is also quite nice but having owned a while "head" before, the hassle of keeping it clean and white is too much for my liking. So much about the helmet, here's my feedback after using it for a few days, riding in the sun and in the rain.

These I like :thumb:

* "Transformer"... It is an open face helmet for local/city riding but becomes a "full-face" helmet by attaching the removable chin bar. The much cheaper Nolan N43 (which I also seriously considered) has the same desirable capability but its chin bar is a tad too close for comfort. Best of both worlds? Maybe.

One of the reasons I prefer the HyperX over N43 is that the removable chin bar seems more sturdy (bigger), and slightly further away from my chin, more space.

* Acceptable shell size... Although the shell is a little bigger than my MHR "RAM3", it doesn't make me look like ET which the N103 does. Overall, its physical size is still acceptable. Well, it has to be bigger to accommodate the extras like the tinted eye shield and chin bar mechanism.

* Nice finishing... I thought the finishing looks quite impressive, especially when it "sparkles" under the sun with the silver metallic power under the lacquer. Moving parts are not creaky (for now) and the cushions feels quite comfortable. Felt like it is better made than the N43, from paintwork to fittings.

* Good visibility... Nothing special when using it in the open-face mode but visibility is huge when in full-face mode, compared to the pigeon holes of normal full-face helmets.

* Low visor... As the visor is designed to cover over the chin bar, the coverage is low enough to covers the chin when used in open-face mode. I was able to keep my chin dry when after riding in the rain this morning.

* Quietness... The noise level is much lower compared to the MHR "RAM3", even at 120+km/h. But of course, the usual booming noise from the bottom of helmet still exists. The helmet is more silent with the top vent at closed position, see my dislike section on this aspect.

after using the helmet for a year, noise level still ok and got used to the whistling sound from ventilation liow.

* Sun visor... Seems many riders have complained about built-in sun visors being not low enough to cover the eyes sufficiently. This is definitely not the case for the HyperX. Also, the distance between the shield and my face is sufficient that it doesn't come into contact with my prescription glasses.

i misplaced my riding sunglasses cos didn't get to use it for too long, the helmet's sun visor works.

* Anti-fog... The anti fog coating on the main visor works and I didn't encounter fogging when riding in the rain this morning. Wonder how long the anti-fog coating will remain effective.

still working well after 1 year... if dirty, just take visor out, rinse it under running tap water, then "flip" fry it will do; do not scrub or use detergent.

Hmmm... dunno to like or dislike, probably neutral bah :p

* Ear space... Although it has less ear pocket compared to my MHR, it felt much better than the AGV. A little more space would seriously be welcomed or preferred.

These I don't like o_O

* Not LTA friendly... Nope, it doesn't come with a PSB sticker, means use at own risk of getting a fine when riding in the fine city. Not an issue if not using on sinkapor roads, but I'm using it as a day-to-day helmet in open-face mode.

* Weight... Specs says that the size M I bought weights 1541 grams. That's quite a weight for an open-face helmet. Would be great if it could be lighter.

* Double-D rings... The HyperX came with DD rings chin straps. Since the helmet is not PSB tested/approved, I would prefer to have the quick release latch type chin straps which are more gloves friendly. Quick release straps are especially useful when out on touring.

went down to LAB to buy the quick release to replace the DD. interestingly, ah boi talked me out of buying the item from him, recommending that DD is safer cos quick release tends to "release" on impact. so sticking with DD.

* Chin squeeze... When I first put on the helmet (visor lifted and without chin bar attached), I could feel the tight grip my cheeks. A tight grip is usually desirable when riding at higher speeds where wind blasts tends to shake the helmet around if it is loose. However, the tight grip becomes even tighter when the visor is pulled down; the visor presses the 2 chin sides inwards into its curvature. The same happens when chin bar is attached as it restricts the chin sides from flexing outwards. This new tightness makes the feel a little less comfortable at the cheeks.

At this moment, the cushions are all virgin and guess all virgins feel a little tight  Hopefully, the feel would be better when the cushions are seasoned; wonder if the designers have factored this into the calculations.

indeed, the cushions more comfortable le.

* Ventilation... Despite many reviews that the HyperX's ventilation is above average, I felt it is not as good as the MHR "RAM3"; or that the ventilation if RAM3 is darn good. With the "RAM3", my scalp could feel the cool air flowing through, not with the HyperX. Good thing is, the HyperX didn't feel hot and I wasn't like sweating inside when riding under the sun (not tool long of course).

* "Whistling" sound... This is probably the most irritating dislike I have on the HyperX. When the top ventilation is open while riding, I could hear a distinct whistling sound as if someone is blowing across the top of an empty coke bottle. The sound goes off the moment the top vent is closed. And so a dilemma of having more ventilation with more noise or less noise but less ventilation.

got used to it, sometimes didn't even notice it le.

There is no perfect helmet... just one that suits your needs

just my 0.02 cents worth of opinion/feedback

yes, provided it's not brand new bike that you are changing fork springs. Sold as a set of fork seal and dust cover. $32 for 2 sets at FJT. Could be cheaper elsewhere.

in addition to changing the seals... can consider adding a pair of protectors.

see post below.

Just did mine few months back from him too...

Btw do give it a check on ur front wheel bearing.

Last but not least since u r servicing ur fork, u might wish to consider fitting on a pair fork seal protector?

The one similar with spec2 and abv, as this will avoid & minimise debris from damaging ur fork seal.

If I not mistaken the price for a pair of it cost only $16. From Fjt.

It looks like this :D
