For local sg roads, original windscreen is good for heights up to 175cm and speeds up to 130kmh. If you tour more, then the taller screens are better but will be hot during summer days city riding. They are also wider and give some protection to the hands if you do not have handguards.

Thanks Uncle!

If that is the case, I will get the original one which I wont feel too hot.

Original is expensive right? any alternative?

Anyone knows the price of the original windshield for fjs400?

Hi SW community!

I am looking for a SW 600 (400 also can)... looking to buy in January.

Looking at machine 2-3 years old, good condition. Any idea how much I should budget?

Thanks and feel free to PM me if you know dealer who may have or if you know someone selling...

Cheers

Alex

Since your PM is not allowed and maybe you are Jimmy superfly snuka, i will give you this clue. Google under Honda SW 600. someone is selling. angmoh if I am not mistaken . but not new one. no new 600 in the market. a bit ex though.

Any recommendations for daily use, low-cost, mid-cut or high-cut waterproof riding boots? Been raining like crazy these few days.

something like this? :cheeky:

on the serious note...

i'm presently wearing a pair of Lee leather zipper boots, presentable, comfortable and still able to keep my feet dry in the rain as long as the rain pants go over the ankle section of the boots.

maybe Lee brand ones look more "ojisan", can try other brands like timberland, rockport, clarks, dr matrins, etc.

something like these... just make sure the zippers are at the side or water will seep in :)

at first wanted to buy the big givi one agst the rain but decided it may be too hot for city riding as i mostly ride city.

the scratches are located directly at the top area therefore backside itchy feel like changing. it is not as clear as before also. i think because of the coating. anyway to 'polish' or buff it?

i rmb i can make acrylic smooth again when i did technical in my sec sch days.

did you purchase your givi already? how much?

Getting my Givi from SW9000 ... he 嫌弃 the windshield.

Can polish, 4000 fine grade sand paper, then code polishing compound, then bluff off.

w/o UV coating, it will turn yellow.

Posted

why windshields, headlights, headlight protectors turns yellow?

culprits are:

* weather... rain & shine (UV rays)

* environment pollutants (dirt & dust)

* chemicals (used during washing)

* road salt

* bugs

* etc etc

First question, what causes headlights to turn yellow and hazy? There are several things that come into play with an acrylic lens that are now standard in vehicle headlights. First is the environment we live in. The sun the rain, pollution, road salt and bugs eat away at the clearcoat on your headlights. Living in Florida the sun is strong all year and, although the clear coat is a UV protection, it’s only good for 5 years. The length of time also depends on the make and model of your vehicle. Finally, cleaning products will have a feeding frenzy on the clear coat on the lens of your headlight. Using a regular detergent or taking your car to a car wash with those abusive bristles will strip away clear coat. Anyway you look at it, those headlights are going to need to be restored and restoring them is much cheaper than replacing them.

yup, tried on 2 separate occassions:

* my acrylic headlight protector became very dull and "greyish" after few years of usage.

after polishing, it was back to clear and "glossy".

* there was some dirt stains on my windshield just below the number "plate" sticker.

my brains not short-circuited that day cos i did what i usually do for my home windows... water and newspaper.

alamak!!! the newspaper left scratches all over :slapforehead:

panicked, but luckily i remember reading somewhere that autoglym super resin polish can help to remove light surface scratches, and i happen to have a bottle. tried... it helped.
