both hagon rear shocks and hyperpro front springs are stiffer than stock ones :p

price wise, can call unique motor for more info

Wah this is a very weird issue man.... I never remember riding a Swing and it feeling so very stiff...... If Hagon and Hyper pro are gonna be harder then not what I want, I need a smoother ride something stiffer is gonna make me lose control of the bike. When I hit small pot holes sometimes i feel like almost to the point losing control

Rear Suspension

Depends on how many years are the rear suspension already.

I replaced mine at 69k.... about 2 years ride. The suspension could not move up and down freely already.

Changed to Hagon. Sit slightly taller than stock but just as comfortable. Can only feel a bit different over bigger humps but no issue. Better in the corners as well.

Import cost from Wemoto.com is about SG$375 per pair (Ehh... Stock is about $460+++ without install leh). Can self install (half an hour++) or get a mech to do it.

Front Suspension

30k liao... time to change the front fork seal, dusk cover, top and bottom collars and Fork Oil.

Can experiment with different fork oil grades. The lightest is 10W for fun and light handling. 15W and 20W increases the stability in corners but you might feel the roughness of the road surface a bit.

Alternatively, change to Hyperpro Fork Spring and abt $280 with installation I guess.

Smoother ride but different characteristic as stock when it comes to big humps. The rebound over big humps with speed would be greater. Thus a thicker oil (15W or 20W) should be used.

My 2 cents.... minimally, go change to the Hagon Rear Suspension. Won't regret.

riding feel is very individual or rider peculiar... some likes it stiffer, some softer for comfort.

like SW9000 recommended, you can play with using different weight of fork oil to get your desired stiffness or softness (lighter oil).

for me, i'm using hyperpro plus heavier oil (20W) becos the stock ones are too softy bouncy whenever i take the Gali Batu Flyover (loop link between KJE to BKE down south towards PIE). new setup reduces the amount of travel (bounce) during cornering and i felt to have more control. trade off is that the forks become less "spongy" or cushion, can feel more vibrations whenever the road is uneven, a good example is riding through KPE.

for rear shocks, i also think hagon is a good choice... would have used it if not for my hardy stock shocks.

heh heh... they're still the same pair mounted in the factory sometime in 2006... next year will be 10th anniversary liow :thumb:

you have to try different settings from 1 to 5 to get your preferred one. but do note that you'll need higher preload (higher number) if carrying pillion most of the time.

another thing to check could be your tyre pressures... pressure too high will also cause ride to be bumpy.

going in to ACM for servicing soon... best to call and check parts availability/pre-order.

probably pass bike to ah choong during lunchtime and collect it after work :p

+ change tyres

+ change engine & final drive oil

+ change oil filer

+ change fork oil

+ change steering cone ... one of the last few factory pieces :)

+ check front bearings

+ clean or change 3-in-1

+ check magnetic coil health

Thanks for your awesome input bro, I think its about time to change already. Previous owner rode it for 2 years and mileage only 30k. Right now from what I feel is its not playing freely anymore like the dampening effect is like not so shiok like when it slides down to absorb impact its not so smooth. I'm leaning towards changing it to hagon and hyper-pro, and honestly the price of Hagon really is not bad man I was expecting like $400 per side LOL

Thanks so much bro for the awesome tips. When I got the bike recently his tyres were WAYYY too soft it was SO HARD to turn cause of that. So went to bike shop and pumped it up now its easy to turn BUT the ride has become rock hard, issue is I'm worried if pump less gonna be hard to turn. Right now when I take a turn or corner I can feel the handle bar going inwards towards the direction of the turn but its very very mild. You can tell that if I let go anymore air confirm its gonna be stronger. But I 30k i think its about time to do something with the shocks ah high chance gonna change them hopefully it will turn out better haha

Just some quick questions.... had been on several category of rides like Honda 600F4i, Ducati 748, Super 4 etc.

Previously unsure if scooter can fit my riding style, hence got a Honda Wave semi automatic for one year probation.

Finally got my first full auto scooter after 12years of riding lol

Just to clarify my subjective experiences.... The Swing is pretty heavy and actually much much more powerful than a Super4-with-Yoshi full system

across the power band?? The acceleration from standstill is almost like instant??

During operation, the bike actually runs quieter than my bicycle?

Not sure if the above mentioned is the normal characteristics of a scooter.

Looking forward to any advice :cheer:

Though both are 400cc, the characteristics are different.

The S4's power can be adjusted through the gears but the SW, like all other scooters have only 1 power range.

If the SW configuration is set up for race, then it might accelerate faster because there is no lag as oppose to changing gears.

However, SW cannot match S4 for top speed.

All scooters are quiet. The Tmax engine runs as quiet as the SW. BMW is the loudest.

But... they will never be as quiet as a bicycle.

Not sure if you have upgraded your scooter but looking at your list of previous bikes and your question on speed and power... you should get a Tmax530 instead. Trust me.

hi ellamcoy

welcome to the SW / scooter community ... hope you'll enjoy the comfort & storage space available from a maxi scoot

yes, the SW is the heaviest class 2A scooter in singapore, and it's the quietest with a solid/heavy stock exhaust further masking the sound from its parallel twin engine; SW is also the only class 2A scooter with parallel twin engine. but if you change exhaust to leo vince (plus take out silencer), that's another story liow.

quieter than bicycle? maybe... in future when SW runs on electrical power :p

read more about SW at Tech Corner here

Silverwing 400cc / 600cc Tech Corner

IMO, SW400 is unlikely to be more powerful than S4 considering the power-to-weight ratio between the 2 bikes, and also whether the S4 engine and rider's wrist have Vtec or not.

e.g. put our kaki James on a S4 with vtex, normal SW400 should smell smoke

btw, the SW is designed more as a touring maxi-scooter, providing comfort (stability, smooth and quiet engine, big seats, windshield, etc) and utility (55L underseat storage). weighting about 240kg (before barang barang & rider weight) and with a 2285mm length/770mm width, this class 2A giant is definitely less zippy in the congested traffics as compared to the lightweight and much shorter runners or downtown.

if you're looking for pickup in a big scooter, can consider the Tmax or BMW :p

but since you've bought the SW, try see if you could enjoy and appreciate the beauties of this "mother of 2A scooters"...

have fun

For Haji Holiday, just need to ride out earlier loh.

6am start should still be ok.

Come back no issue as I usually go via JB direct to custom.

North Thailand, inclusive of Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Mae Hong Son.

This would be my 3rd super long trip with my SW-T. *Previously: 2012 - North Thailand (to Mae Sai), 2014 - North East Thailand (to Nong Khai).

SW9000 bro, thank you for the insight! I see, removing the traditional clutch operation from the equation actually reduces "down time" and provides Swing with continuous power delivery.

I really like that pickup style of the Swing. Had about 500Km on it and noticed that whenever I rode over uneven grounds, there is some "shakiness" feedback - not sure if it is due to the smaller wheel?

Tmax? hahaha actually I wanted to try out the NCX750 but after mounting on it, i felt a little too high for my liking hahaha - besides, it really reminded me of my VFR800 which by i itchy backside- removed the ABS. During one stormy nite + rainy day + a tele-tubby jay walker = crash and burn lol. I have phobia with bike that comes with catapult siting posture lol. Hence, I am simply happy with comfort and some usable torque =)
