Hi,

May I know why you recommend a 2015 than 2014 model? I read in review. They changed slight cosmetic looks and it's 'keyless' only rite? And I think it's a bit heavier in the 2015 model.

The inverted fork and the led headlight is what pulled me toward the 2015 after viewing both side by side. Im a sport bike lover so guess that what attracted me of cause the keyless which is great where I just go new and can start the bike without pulling out any key.

Pricing is not far off also when im comparing both. 2nd hand interest rate is higher so might work out to be small but in my case 2nd hand work out to be more exp.

Lastly I recommend ASPhoon. Trustworthy without hidden cost. Price reasonable and friendly salesman. Look for Wilson at upper Changi outlet.

Hi thanks for the infor. May I know which reliable shop can I buy from? Secondly is there any popular bike shop Tmaxers usually go?

I read this thread and found that the FC is about 19kmpl. Is that a normal range for a 400 - 650 cc scooter?

So far any Tmaxers use this bike for touring?

Thanks for being helpful!

If u into FC then go for sw.

My previous sw is 23-25km/l.

My tmax now at 19/l.

Depend on what u really into??

Storage go for other make or model from Yamaha however can make up for tmax with box.

The fun of riding then go for Tmax.

Servicing I believe quite Alot of scoot rider all patronizing AC.

Yup, still need to use physical key to open the fuel tank cap which to me is okay as it not a daily thing like starting engine which i think is a great thing to do without. Hopefully Yamaha will explore more into it but they lack of the technology as even the tmax keyless is by Mitsubishi now.

Yeah.. The thing that I don't like it there now they provide just one keyless key.. If you lost it you will have a hard time replacing it.

Will not have a hard time just that it exp and u cannot do it outside as compare to those typical type.

Need to go back to HL and it cost $400. Without it cannot on the bike.

Well too high tech also issue. First world problem.

Also need all the detail plus one normal key which fit your bike to bypass the system without the keyless key.

By the way keyless so hard to lost the key also. How to lost a big key like this.

U Dun see ppl lost their car key often.

initially I aslo like the keyless thing but after I heard ah cong's negative comment , I think twice. But it is still good to have keyless.

He told me we still need to take out the remote to press activate, then press ignition button on the bike , then squeeze brake lever and button same time den engine get started

same thing when off engine. after press the centre big button to off engine, we still need to deactivate engine one more time at the remote itself, so as to say, we still need to take out remote to press deactivate to lock our bike. correct me if I am wrong.

You can leave the remote on all the way.. No issue. The remote will auto off after a few days

I think most ppl will not leave the remote on all the way, reason is SAVE BATTERY. what battery does the remote use? is it those round slim battery?

how I wish tmax keyless acts like operating a car keyless. Simply means, key always keep inside pocket without taking it out. when we are close to the bike, by pressing start engine it get started. when we reach our destination, simply press lock handlebar and auto locked without taking key to deactivate it.

Anric79,

If U treat it like a car keyless key, it will work like one. If you want to make yr life difficult, do keep a spare key, most probably the keyless on/off button will give way first.

No need to off unless when u are around the bike and u do not want ppl to start the bike. If not leave it on. Battery can last ard 2years base on HL Mech.

Just do up one spare to open the compartment and pump petrol as the original one is not comfortable to use with and this will make your life Alot easier.

I tried opening up the keyless remote and it easy so changing of battery is super easy.

Routine to start keyless tmax. Key in pocket.

1) go to the bike

2) press the start to activate the bike

3) hold lever and start

4) do whatever u want before riding off

5) reach destination press off

6) handle lock by turning the handle to the left and press /hold the off button.

7) end

Lastly for those whom got the 2015 model keyless one please dup a spare key which is important to start the bike if u lost your keyless remote.

Actually the keyless system work the same way u just mentioned.

Just only when pump petrol so that is ard once per month.

So far to me I ride daily so I yet to experience the remote self turn off by itself.

So far I never turn off.

Remote into pocket and out that all.

I leave the remote on all the time, I off it once during CNY, 4 days not riding. In the owner's manual it did mention it will auto turn off like after 4 days if I m not wrong. If it is off U can't turn the bike on, just need to turn on the key and on the bike again.

Most of the time I don't pillion, I do have a top box, and the top box are for rain coat. I put my helmet below seat, so I don't need to use the key until I need to topup petrol.

Nice!! no time to let it rest for 4days as need to ride daily. However be it that it turn off after 4 days or not does not make much different as like u mention just a press on on/off and your bike is back on.

Be it you pillion a lot or not, with or without top box the keyless system only bring more convenient during daily use as there no need to reach for the key other than to pump petrol which is unavoidable till there a quick release like for sport bike type then we can really go full keyless. Hehe...

But for now the keyless system has more pro than con. Only times will tell what are the issue with this keyless system as it is still new to bike industry and to yamaha.

Guess this is also the future for bike industry, like the key with chip security system which now most bike have it.

If daily riding will not turn off unless run out of battery which the actual lifespan now is still unknown.

HL mech tell me ard 2year however he was not very sure also. The battery is those round normal type which can get anywhere and the remote is easy to open.

For emergency case just need to learn the secret of starting using the seat. Hehe...
