Break in longer like another 3 more months.. Change engine oil as stock oil is usually thicker. It's should be fine after you did that.

I am considering the Burgman 400, in terms of maintenance, are there any mechanics that have ready parts for it? I seen many people talking about ah choong? seems like he is the guy to go for, for scooter related maintenance.

I just got a 1 year old burgman 650. would like to know

1) What kind of warranty do suzuki give for new bikes? Is it a 1 year warranty or 2 years?

2) The 650 has a characteristic heavy engine braking at slow speeds, so much so that it can jerk u forward when you close throttle. Any idea how to resolve this? I read that the G2 Street Tamer throttle tube can help eliminate the issue to a certain extend, has anyone tried this G2 street tamer?

The new facelift 650 should be smoother at low speed as compared to the old generation.

U only have heavy engine braking in power or in manual mode. Wats ur mileage and confirm urs is a L3 or 4 snd not the old version?

Mine is 2014 model but registered in Jan 2015. mileage 11,000km. Its the new facelift, matt grey version. The heavy engine braking occurs in auto drive mode. Its actually quite dangerous especially when taking corners and when i close the throttle a little, the heavy engine brake kicks in. I guess its the the electronic part where the system detects the rpm is dropping and thus drops the gear as well causing this heavy braking. I brought it to guan hoe at autobay and they said its the bike characteristics and they can't tune the bike to resolve this. I had an assumption where they can update the ecu profile or where some software updates can fix this. Anyway i'll be happy to hear what other 650 burggies have to say on this.

Are you in power mode ?

If norm mode should not be that bad.

Its gear driven so there is engine brake is more felt compared to norm scoot running on variator & belt.

Maybe if you going aggressive cornering should consider trying in manual mode ...

Anyway this scoot cannot kup too low.. u will feel ur mainstand limiting ur lean angle...

In normal mode. Anyway i have installed the G2 street throttle tamer and it resolved the heavy engine braking by about 50% and the compromise is that the bike has a more gradual pick up, something which i can live with.

And yes, i scrapped the main stand about 3 times now and it wasn't aggressive riding : ) Next is to improve the suspensions which suck. Anyone done it on their 650?

Posted

I had my front suspension oil changed coz they were just bottom out too easily. Turned out that I have diff oil on each leg and my high speed wobbling was resolved after the change.

Rear was replaced with progressive shocks and the result is more controlled feel but stiffer ride and not as comfy.

Improved stopper bolt is slightly longer compared to previous. Not sure if Pre-13 models can use?
