ehk my brother say if we convert rear drum brake to disc brake, cannot pass inspection ah? true or not?

i guess should be able to pass bah ...if not y so many sparkies in sg do the conversion.... if really cannot dan ask bike shop to go on your behalf liao no choice.....

To those spankers who convert to rear disc brake . im sorry to disappoint u , conversion drum to disc is illegal . its still modification . Got the answer from LTA. I already asked the LTA officer (the one riding bike) personally .

 

*Pls take note that the question i asked is abt 3 years ago when im werkin as traffic warden .

i think the racing kit should be in the box tgt with the pipe rite ???

but think they take it out and sold seperately....

Conversion to racing footrest is also illegal. Bigger disc rotors are also illegal. Basically anything you mod on your bike is illegal. Because its no longer as released from manufacturer. To ease your doubt my friends whom are riding the same bike already passed their inspections with rear disc brakes. I guess it depends on the person in charge.

Don't bother msging him. He's got his own problems. If anyone wants to do the conversion I will ask him when I go to his shop. My advice however though is to find the parts from elsewhere and do it there. It should be cheaper. Another way is to ask sparkan to bring you in to get it changed.

Inspection can pass. Just that if u get caught on the road u're still liable for fines under illegal modification for bikes. Like what's been said above, even oversized discs are not approved, unless there are certs for the part. Like example cars have performance parts such as superchargers, air filters with certs from the aftermarket manufacturer stating the "legalness" of the parts. For the disc conversion, like duo said, it's cheaper for u to source for a 2nd hand set and if u want to, fix at my place. It'll be cheaper. If not i'll cost you 300+. Some prices i ca set, some cannot.

 

FYI, i may most probably be able to get a deal for the fz150 block + piston set for those interested. Including workmanship should be less den 350. Not confirmed yet, need to check with my boss see whether higher authority approve or not

Its normal. The way you ride will also affect the FC. Especially if you are throttle happy.

hey guys i just bought a spark and definitely new to 4 stroke. now my bike is on drum brake. i've heard about ppl saying that drum brake is not good and weak. but how weak is weak?

 

with pillion(i weigh 80kg, my fren 80+kg), my rear brake was really bad to point of no braking effect at all. i tried tightening it and it was better. but then the wheel was fully locked, meaning no freewheeling...it is supposed to be that bad?
