Using an aftermarket exhaust

Recommended Posts

Hi, I own a Suzuki Katana 750. But somehow I can't find aftermarket exhausts available locally.

I've heard of people fixing exhausts meant for hayabusa on their cb1300. They said so long they're of the same CC, it's do-able and alright. Are there any legal issues if I fix probably a GSX-R 750 aftermarket exhaust on my katana?

I know performance would definitely not be as good as it wasn't meant for its model. But can fix?

Have you checked with Motoworld? They can contact Yoshi Japan to manufacture street legal for any make. But it may cost you a little.

Fitment of other model may not pass the inspection. I've experienced to fit a stock exhaust of another bike to fit on my bike. The inspector straight away fail me.

Motoworld can actually do that? I mean developing an aftermarket exhaust takes time n effort etc. Without doing any research on the model they can manufacture an exhaust for it? But i assume that if they do that then its gonna cost more than the bike itself.

Not trying to shoot ya down or anything.... juz curious if they can actually do that. Cheers.

Read carefully friend, Yoshi Japan to manufacture . Aren't they as established enough to produced? My bike is a ZX12R, rare enough to even think twice to produce. I got it ya. Of coz I pay the price to have one.

What i'm saying is that its not economically viable in the business sense to just manufacture a single piece of exhaust. I'm definitely checking it out. Thanx!

Erm... Sorry but I just want to know if that's possible. Haha... I'm not going to pay a bomb for something customised. :)

If cannot just forget it loh. Hahaha... Anyone tried and passed?

Cause I know of people who fit haya exhausts on cb1300, I just want to further reassure myself.

i had a couple of those GSX 750s when I was partner hiring out bikes. The exhaust you mention is available 'off the shelf' from several manufacturers. The same model engine is used in other GSX750's NOT the GSXR.

Try Jama, Lasar (same parent company), Foran (http://www.dropbears.com/f/foran/index.htm), Staintune (http://www.staintune.com.au/), Supertrapp, Pipemasters (http://www.formula1mc.com.au/), Remus.

There are plenty of others, check online, but try the "Country Web pages". As for inspection etc, if you keep the original muffler and have the headers and collectors, or Y-junctions remade to fit, then should be ok. OEM mufflers will most often have a model specific stamping on the mufflers, rarely on the headers.

hi... my header is a 4-2(dual) & available aftermarket for my bike is a full system 4-1. Jama Laser, Muzzy, Micron, u name it i've check them all.

I've thought of using aftermarket slip ons from other model

1)TECHNICALLY... can it be done???

i guess the only problem would be the size of my midpipe which i think can be modified.

2)LEGALLY... can it be done???

Cybernation: Fitment of other model may not pass the inspection. I've experienced to fit a stock exhaust of another bike to fit on my bike. The inspector straight away fail me.

but what Cybernation said was a stock exhaust. since aftermarket is mostly universal... should it be OK with LTA???
