Hi, I would like to ask if you guys encounter not being able to pump petrol fully up to the brim?

1) When I pump petrol, I will stop once the petrol reaches the brim, then after 5 seconds, the petrol will slowly drop about 3-4cm, then i pump to brim again, then 5sec later drop 3-4cm again.. i repeated this for >10 times but the petrol juz wun reach the brim.

I checked the floor but no petrol was leaked out on the floor.. can anyone tell me whether this is normal? will the petrol eventually hit the brim if i pump non-stop? or whether something somewhere is faulty?

2) When I move or push my bike in carpark (without helmet), I can hear sounds coming from my front wheel.. sound like metal rubbing.. suspected something wrong with my caliper.. asked my fren but he told me i using EBC brake pad is like tt de.. is normal..

But i not pressing my brakes at all.. why will got sound huh? anyone got any experience?

Practical Test Checklist:

√ Sudden and late braking

√ Faulty signal lights

√ Superb use of horn

√ Assume road belongs to father

√ Never at fault no matter what happens

√ Tailgating confidence

Result: YES! You qualify to become a Singapore car driver!

1) Maybe it's the petrol fairy who came and drank your petrol. On a serious note, I think it's the air bubbles which made the petrol level go down. It will definitely go up to the brim when it's full. The petrol has to go somewhere isn't it?

2) When I was riding my SP, I had the same sound when pushing my bike without wearing helmet. Not too sure if it's normal though, but it didn't affect me at all and as a general rule, what doesn't affect your riding shouldn't be fixed. My current bike is too heavy for me to push around so didn't really bother. Haha.

Some sound from the brakes is not abnormal however, the front wheel must be able to spin freely. Put bike on main stand, or tilt it on side stand and get someone to spin the wheel. :)

at first i tot so too.. is air in the tank.. but somehow i pump pump pump still cannot make it full.. that left me wondering..

and also.. my bike drink a lot more petrol than others of the same model and of the same carb settings.. riding style seldom wack.. wondering if it's related to the petrol or brake thingy..

You have a black hole in ur tank!!! Lol.. Yup i think its air bubbles too. Especially when u just press the "petrol handle" fully and the petrol sprays out at full speed. Hence normally i press lightly and take my time to fill :D

For ur tyres Demon said it all

mine also like tat. but normally pump fill times to the brim enough le. anyway, how much u pump will bring u the same milage ur bike can produce. its not like the more u squeeze in the more milage u will cover, its still the same milage/L. IMO

u just changed brake pads? coz sometimes new brake pad i encounter will rub against metal slightly but use after some time shd be gone. if not den disc warp le lor. IMO

did you pump too fast? i.e you use the pump ledge to fill. For me i control the flow of the filling thus able to fill full. Its normal for petrol to drop slightly. Thats why alot of cars in JB shake shake shake just to fill up 2 bucks.

next time go msia pump then keep pumping until reach brim lor.. if pump until more than my tank capacity then really something wrong liaoz..

I have the same problem too regarding the sound coming out from my rear brake disc when I'm pushing my bike. It's like those screeching sound but when i ride my bike, the sound isn't there anymore.

Posted

regarding the brakes, it's normal. unless it is giving u noticeable resistance. brake pad got touch abit one, thats why the sound.

All fixed discs are like that.

When you apply brakes... the pistons push the pads against the discs but when you release the pads still stay and are only rubbing against the discs.. hence the sound. Most street bikes brakes setup are like that.

Only when you have floating discs, as in racing brake setups.. then there won't be rubbing coz the "vibration" from the 'loosely mounted' disc will 'push' the brake pads away reducing the possibility of rubbing and brakes overheating.

Hmmm there might be possibility or your brake pad wear or your caliper piston need servicing or you need to re-bleed your brake system also. But anyway if you dun feel that your brake always jam and if you checked that your pads are ok then should be no prob :thumb:

If you hate squeeky sound of your pad then mabbe change other brand. Wat brand are you using? Some brands DO produce squeeky sound.

I'm using the EBC brake pads for my Gilera. While riding, I do not encounter any difficulties in braking though. Thanks to everyone who reassured me that it's just normal to have the screeching sound.

maybe the disc plate isnt really perfectly flat out.. some parts are slightly thicker...

did u change ur brake disc plate to a oversized one?
