Semi-Synthetic oil change every 2000-2500km. Synthetic oil change every 4000-5000km.

I'm using Esso 8000. But 95 Octane is good also. You will need time to get use to the scoot when it comes to parking and squeezing between traffic. But after awhile, you'll grow accustomed to it. Cars will make way for you also when they see the Downtown approaching from behind compared to the cubs/ even Super4.

Erh, obviously the COE price 5mins prior to the closing time will shoot up luh. It'll shoot up once the quota = number of bid. That's how the COE works.

Hi mates,

2 of my colleagues just rolled out brand new downtown 200i early this week and was apparently told that the bikes don't require any running in (boss says its BMW technology whatsoever). I'm abit skeptical on this cos my colleauges aren't really petrol heads, they just need transportation to and fro work. I'm afraid they might go all out and cause any damage to the brand new motor.

If it's the same engine albeit the cc, IMO yes not necessary to run-in. My first run-in on the same day i collect already max speed but must fully warm up engine.

Engine still swee swee after that, only consumption drink more than the rest of the same scooter. I'm getting 25km/h which should have been ~27km/l-29km/l.

After a few trips up north at max speed most of the time, the engine still swee swee until recently(after 1 year). Got funny ticking noise inside engine and engine oil leaky below water pump area. Seems normal as i found out 1 other DT3 also have mild oil leak from a small orifice. I have been monitoring the noise and it seems to disappeared somehow, period.

I am very impressed with this engine as i wacked it nice and hard with pillion. So if you can cruise at optimum torque of the engine instead of going at full power, the engine will be very reliable in times to come. Occasional max should be totally fine judging from the way i max the engine all the time.

Not running-in without going full speed is totally fine. Just ride normally, rev as you need to. Totally no harm. Don't ride like i do will be fine. Base on what i did to my scoot as a gauge for your reference. Results may differ ha ha but generally this is what happened to me. Take it as a pinch of salt ya.

Engine aside, It's a totally different story to other side of the scoot like handling and parts :p

How many cc is the 200 anyway? I read from motor culture indicated 205cc. How come 2B can ride? Or is it 2A? Then mind as well go for 300 no?

For your Info about how good Kymco engine is, The latest Adiva AD3 a 3 wheeler brought in Mah is using the kymco 300i Engine. Rated at 29.5hp as compare to DT3 27hp. You can read it up on local magazine Moto Culture.

Above are just my view and on what i did to my DT3. Information for reference only hor.

Hi people~ I am currently riding a phantom and would like to change to the new Downtown 200I which look soooo good XD but something lame is on my mind, haha, the motor is huge that is for sure, will i be stuck in the middle of the vehicles during Jam XD lol.

any advice for a newbie like me? Like how long to change the oil or the strap or something, how long to do services, what petrol to use? Like shell 98 or Vpower and etc, all advice will be greatly appreciated ^^

It's big but not as big as you think when squeezing. If your phantom can squeeze, my DT can squeeze too. I lost to the squeezing ability of Kup Chai only so far.

95 is all i need. No difference in performace and consumption with higher Octane.

Can those who recently bought the DT200 share your feedback on the engine performance? Hope is as reliable as DT125 as feedback in forum. Keen to get one if 2nd hand DT125 is too expensive. Thanks

So far so good. Smooth and powerful engine. I'm a satisfied owner!

Haiyo. Must wait until it reaches at least 50,000km (2.5yrs of the avg distance covered by a Singaporean motorist at 20k km/year) then can say whether good or not mah. My DT125i only 21,730km. Still a long way to go before its reliability is proven.

The really reliable ones I've seen so far are the Japanese - 140k km still sounds showroom new!!

Thinking of respraying my scoot from the current Titanium to Brown Bronze leh. I think it'll look good on the DownTown!!

Hi Elpacino98, I got my DT2 two weeks ago. Now almost reached 800km for 1st service. I travel 60km on expressway every day. Quite stable and comfortable cursing at 90km/h. Never try hit top speed max at 100km/h. I am very happy with it.

Cmthien, sound tempting. BTW, what is the RPM when you cruising at 90km/h? I don't suggest you full throttle it until it run in although some say no run in period, why take risk? I plan to join the group to ride to malaysia if i get one :).

Around 6500rpm

Whoa! That's good! My DT125i does 80kph@6500rpm, 90kph at 7000-7500rpm.... 100kph@8250rpm.

Hi Cmthien, similar to you I travel 74km daily on my DT2. 100km/h @6800~7000rpm. Keep hitting >100km/h whenever travelling on expressway without noticing as engine is so smooth. Must keep checking the speedo.....hehehe!

Red is fierce but I was told try to park under shade or the color may fade over time.
