Wow that is really very ex for 125cc. Plus coe will add up to 13k. Thats crazy for a 2b bike. Guess downtown 200 is still a better choice although do like the looks of the x10 wif twin front brakes, abs n traction control.

Not sure if the X10 125cc can move with pillion, as the weight of the scoot is 188kg. The 330cc is 196kg.

DT125i single riding with top box of 45L or less, it's ok. But with a pillion and 50L top box, it'll be struggling. Haha!

If X10 price include $2k COE and $500 insurance, it'll be $13.7k for 125cc and $15.3k for the 330cc version. Compare that to Majesty 400@$17k OTR with insurance.

SYM MaxSym 400i is about $13.3k OTR with insurance. Haha.

Wow. Shocking price. $13-14k OTR for a 2B scooter.

Saw 2 female riders of Kymco Downtown 300 recently.

Saw 1 lady on Friday night with the number 414. Wah very fierce leh. Faster than me and even drive in to bus stop filter lane to cut through heavy traffic. Fierce o.O

Saw Piaggio X10 and suddenly have the urge to buy that when it comes out. Just worried about Piaggio reliability of the engine. Heard is not good. Never ride Piaggio before... anyone any thoughts to share?

I rode a Skipper ST150 once.

So far Skipper ST150 (Leader Engine) gave me little problem apart from the usual like oil , belt, roller, u-shoe change. It's air cool, so that could be why it's better in maintenance. No water pump, thermostat, coolant leak to worry about. Problem skipper 4T gave was rear hub oil leak (could be because i put Motor Up in it) After change bearing seal no more leak. Change 2 times retifier, petrol hose, 1 steering cone, front wheel bearing, speedo cable, 1 digital clock and 1 time front brake pads. That's it in all the 9 years of riding. Cover only ~80,000km only. Use for transport only.

I guess the rule of thumb is to do servicing at the required interval and be sensitive to the scooter unusal behavior and try to find the fault before developing into major problems. Scooter are not like bikes, scooter are all covered up so checking visually is impossible. During regular service, the mechanic can find problems of signs of wear and tear and thus inform the owner of parts requiring replacement or service. This prevent or reduces down time like a snapped belt or stalled engine.

To me i find Piaggio generally reliable. Basically the usual wear and tear parts. I think the older the scoot, the problem will accumulate. Unless the owner willing to change faulty parts, the problem will be like a time bomb.

Heard many horror stories of X9 but people still riding and it's still around. Some problems cannot be solve because one thing leads to another.

Say for over heating issues, owner have change the radiator to new and it still over heats and owner frustrated because spend so much yet cannot solve. So angry will blame the scooter loh. There maybe other reasons why by simply changing a radiator cannot solve the problem. Things like thermostat, water pump, seals, gasket and etc. A lot depend on the knowledge of the mechanic also. If they are not familiar with the scooter, they will not solve the problem. So the knowledge, wisdom and ethical practice of the mech are very important also.

Heard story of MP3 tilting mechanism locking and unlocking during ride, don't know true or not. Must even change expensive ECU and may not solve problems. Please confirm for yourself, i read somewhere so info may not be accurate. So problems like this considered not reliable? I guess reliable will mean different things to different people. Generally to me the word "reliable"bike would be "dependable to complete my journey safely" ha ha.

Oh yes, on a side note. Piaggio i would say more sensitive, need a lot of loving care. If you take good care of it, generally it'll be fine. Can wack but must give back by servicing. If you want to wack but don't want to spend, then it's not for you. Same goes with other bikes but like i said, you need more love on this one.

Piaggio, Vespa, Gilera all have QC issues, more so than Japanese/Taiwanese makes. They generally look better, but cannot compete when it comes to engines and refinement.

Trouble with the Italians is, certain model lines are relatively trouble-free, while others have a long list of complaints. Like the Vespa GTS 300i, Piaggio MP3/X9, and one or two iterations of the Gilera Runner.

If they sell at a discount, it may be an attractive option. At the quoted prices for the X10, I won't touch it with a ten-foot pole, even if I've to admit it's a beautiful machine.

But the problem is that is not cheap either. I think is still better and safer to buy Kymco? I do not want to spend $15k on a bike and give me a lot of problem. That will be sianz... Not sure when is Xciting 400 coming... sigh.. waited for so long.. Wil it come out end of the year?

Thanks so much for your feedback. I will say all you guys are very helpful in terms of answering questions. So far, are you happy with Kymco? I think i will stick to Kymco, but just wondering if I should by Kymco downtown 200 or downtown 300 or Xciting 400. I read from the previous thread that Kymco 200 is coming out soon. hmm...

If you have Class 2A license, may as well go for Xciting 400. Haha.

But I guess the DT200i will be a darn good option for those with 2B license. AFterall, it's a Singapore only model with 199.8cc instead of 205cc.

From the Taiwan forum, they will get it next year. Hopefully in Asia, Singapore will be the first to get Xciting 400 like with other Kymco models. Then again, the homo unit must arrive by now if expected to be sold by this year.

I am very please with the reliability so far, no "major" hiccups yet. Been to KL, Lumut, Malacca, Kukup and more to come. shunoski will be the man to tell you about this scoot as he seems like a hard core tourer.

Minor hiccups for me like vibration moving off (got lesser or i got use to it ha ha), High fuel consumption (for me only), Steering cone beginning to get stuck in the center- don't know how to explain) other than that it's fine.

Power almost enough. Touring cruising 120km/h, scooter's comfort zone and peak torque @6500rpm. Full throttle (130km/h-140km/h) with pillion for extended period of time( more than half and hour) also no problem........"yet" :p. Engine still swee swee, no funny noises. Power still there. Feel better power now with Motul 300V. Yup, the oil really not over rated :thumb:

Only problem is parts can only get from agent. Then again, i'll rather go back to them since they will be more familiar with Kymco scooters. There's always the internet for after market parts like brake pads.

The best place to find out about Kymco is the Taiwanese forum. All the good bad are discuss over there. They are very knowledgeable in scooters.

Almost everyday, there will be a Downtow/nikita discussion.
