For those who is considering FJR 1300, I found this article on stx1300 link.

> Prior to purchasing a new ST1300 in '02 I considered a FJR.

> Along wife & I went to our main Yammy dealer for a test ride, before a

> leg was thrown over the FJR I engaged the dealer in a conversation

> about the cost of panniers and top box which were extras at that

> time.During the conversation the dealer excused himself, left our

> company and returned a minute later clutting a letter. He explained

> that Yamaha do not recomend fitting panniers and top box at the same

> time to the FJR they recommend only fitting panniers or top box and

> definitely NOT both. He showed us the letter on Yamaha letter headed

> paper as prove,I thanked him for his honesty and we left without

> taking the test ride.

Hi Swift,

I was in chongaik going thru the few type of handguards (pity irene-sales person a very helpfull lady).

Kevin saw my bike parked outside chongaik he drop in...He was interested about the handguard when he saw me going thru (thanks to -backoff- to start this thingys on diversions).

I could not find any suitable design that able to mount, as for certain model comes with *universal bracket and some not...(acerbis handguards from $90-$120) excluding certain models required *UB's an added cost.

Today me bought the garmin-GPSmap60c at simlim square $700++ with colour and bike mounting brakets. GPSmap60 with B&W screen $500+/- and saw other models about $200++ looks like those basic hand held GPS. Pricing depends on built in memmory lower lesser it cost.

Can check it out at Simlim square 01-36 perfect watches and electronics...

Oxtar boots at chaplee the type, I'm using... now is $380/- can bargain if try harder...

Hi mctan,

I have read it before on the same and other forums, this is not only goes to Yammy it goes to most top bikes manufactures too...the center of gravity is shift when there are alot of weight thrown at the back. Some bikes manufacturer just keep it down(quiet) while others like yammy say it loud as safety always comes first...

Lighter the bike~ the easier to shift the center of gravity C.G. thats the reason why most racing bikes does not have or side panniers or top panniers.

As for st13 the bike weighs more so, it is like counter balanced already but still there are limitation of Kg's you allowed to load/carry.... don't forget that!

With my old ST11 a top box at high speed starts to wobble and without it no problem...doing 210km/h++ weight already shift the CG plus speed it pushes further and the front wheel does not stays or grip the tar.

basic law of gravity-

Hi Cheeko,

1st no need to MR. me...! Silverghost or SG will do...

I bought the 60c cost about $749 including(gst) and bike clip... (temporary no stock of the cigaratte lighter socket)...(socket)which I intend to modify sooner or later.

But palary's is using 60cs cost more...$800++ still it maintains the same price, he bought it last year.

I know about the 60cx need to spent more - should cost around $900++ (expandable memmory card)- It will be coming-in later...mid May or June.

Hi Silverghost,

in the pass, GPS used to be power-hog, but nowadays, u really don't need a external power source. Nowadays those rechargeables (2500mAh) can last you the entire trip up to nowhere.

Here is the place to download free maps for Singapore/Malaysia

http://www.malsingmaps.com/

And here is for downloading of maps all over the world.

It has very detailed maps of Thailand, even to the street level.

Enjoy! I have been bvery [pplease with teh Auto-routing feature in Malaysia and Singapore.:thumb:

Why I need a GPS

Here is a list for drivers and RV owners.

1. They are a great deal of fun to use.

2. They are useful if you get lost and you have a map that gives UTM or lat/lon coordinates.

3. You can actually follow yourself on a map in real time display which allows planning turns, stops, etc if your unit has output capability.

4. You can answer the question "Are we there yet?"

5. Did I mention they are fun?

6. You can find where you left your car.

7. Lets you tell the AAA where to send the tow truck.

8. You can set waypoints and see directions to get there.

9. You can record the exact path you took to get somewhere and play it back later for someone else to see.

10. You can prove how fast you were going when stopped by the cops.

11. You can use it as a compass (if you're moving).

12. When camping, you can use it to find your camp when you go on a hike or to town.

13. You can use it to estimate arrival times.

14. Did I mention they are fun?

15. You can calibrate your speedometer.

16. You can use it as a speedometer if yours is missing or broken.

17. You can use it as a trip meter.

18. With the right database you can find restaurants and other things.

19. You can plan a trip ahead of time and the unit will even tell you where to turn.

20. You can use the info from a GPS to program your dbs satellite receiver.

21. If it is connected to a cell phone you can give the police your cell phone number and they can track your stolen vehicle (some extra cost accessories required).

22. You can locate the spot where the fish were biting.

23. You can amaze your friends.

24. You can find your altitude within a hundred feet.

25. You can find out exactly what time it is.

26. Did I mention they are fun?

27. You can go back the same way you came easily.

28. If something flies out of the window you can mark the spot and return to the exact place.

29. You can amuse yourself on public transportation.

30. You can use it to learn something about navigation.

31. You can remember the location of that place you only go to once a year.

32. It can be a great navigation calculator. For example it will tell you how far apart two places are if you know their locations.

33. Many units can tell you when the sun will rise and set.

Marine users can find plenty of uses from the above list plus a few more.

1. If someone falls overboard you can return and find him or her.

2. In conjunction with a chart you can avoid shallow water.

3. You can avoid submerged objects.

4. You can know where you are without any landmarks.

5. They are just as much fun on a boat.

6. You can find the next buoy in the race or the trip home.

7. You can see if your drifting.

8. You can hook it to your fish finder.

9. You can see true speed and distance over the ground.

10. You can win log races (if they let you use it).

11. You can use it to drive your self steering system.

Other uses for a GPS include:

1. Documenting the location of that neat photograph.

2. Having something useful to talk about on your home video.

3. Doing some amateur surveying.

4. Finding the altitude of your house.

5. If you have a combined GPS/cell phone your friends can watch you move around on the internet if you wish.

6. A couple of combined GPS/frs walkie talkies can be used to keep contact and help if one person gets lost.

7. Helps you justify the palm top you wanted to buy.

8. Instantly find your location on an electronic map.

9. You can use the backlight for a flashlight in a pinch.

10. Figuring out where the cruise ship or airplane is.

11. Setting your clock.

12. Teaching your kids about maps, navigation, and geography.

There are plenty of other users as well. These include aviators, hikers, bicyclists, motorcyclists, skiers, joggers, fishermen, hotair balloonists, kayakers, surveyors, astronomers, and lots more.

...And, how about hobbies and Games

A GPS can be used to enhance your hobbies or to develop some new ones. Here is a list of some unusual items.

1. Some folks install a GPS in their model airplanes. Later, after the flight is over they can download a track and see where it went.

2. Ever wonder where your dog goes at night? Install a GPS on his back and when he returns you can find out.

3. You can search for confluences. These are spots on the earth where the lat/lon numbers all zero out to an exact whole degrees. There are folks that think these are fun places to find! You can also look for government survey markers scattered around the world.

4. Other folks have set up hidden treasures (called geocaches) that can be located by GPS. Don't expect to find a million dollars though.

5. Maybe your next progressive dinner won't include any traditional addresses but only lat/lon coordinates. No cheating by saying whose house it is.

6. Some cameras can include location data right on the picture or perhaps you can just take a picture with your GPS in the foreground.

7. Golfers can use a GPS to display the distance to the pin. Useful for picking the right club to use.

8. A hunter might find that deer stand he/she used last year.

9. Some of the newer GPS units even have games built in.

The difference is useful only in this situation:-

U are in the streets of Hatyai, and becos of the tall building surrounding, u can't get a satelite lock.

So how are u to orientate your maps of your GPS to the roads?

That is hwere the difference comes in, the built-in C will orientate the maps to fit the physical roads... got it???

But then u can always buy a cheepo C and fit it to your GPS, and orientate the maps...

HID fog consume 35W

Halogen consume 50W-100W depend.

For HID, most of the power is conver to lights where as Halogen abt 50-50, light and heat.

Sawadee Krup buggers,

A BIG hello from the beautiful and quiet town of Mae Hon Son. Dispite all the little setbacks we've experienced, spirits are high we're safe and sound here.

To the nothernmost, top most, the curviest parts of thailand, the most jammed part of Thai(and prob the world), this is indeed something different to experience.

Now every step we take from here would be a step back closer to home(and the mundane life).

Now we'll be checkin in to a homely guesthouse and visiting the Karen(long neck) village nearby.

BTW swift, the bunch here miss you so much. :cheeky:

Cheers!!
