Hey what software are you guys using to edit your videos?

I used Windows Live Movie Maker, which worked fine for my short vid below (shot with GoPro HD mounted on front fairing using one of the 3M mounts supplied), but WLMM crashes on me for larger files (e.g. 2GB).

Same here, I'm on a mac so iMovie or Adobe Premiere / Final Cut.

I've been using Windows since Windows 3.0, but as I started doing more image/video work (and mind you, just as an amateur), it was just too much trouble between the crashes, the slowness and the lack of user friendliness. Switched to Mac and now I wonder why I didn;t do so 10 years ago.

Macs a more expensive for sure, but damn is it worth it.

I can load 2-3gb GoPro videos and work on them like it's a 10sec clip...

Thanks for the suggestions people. Re 16:9, it would look nicer. I'll try recording on a 16:9 setting next time. If I post-processed now to 16:9, I suspect I would lose some video content or quality since the original recording was on 4:3.

I managed to download a trial version of Cyberlink PowerDirector earlier and I absolutely love it. Where WLMM bogged down, this thing just flies. Easy to use and didn't crash at all on me. I'll definitely be buying the full version when my 30 days of trial are up. The video below was edited using PowerDirector:

I'm starting to teach people the unique patterns of local traffic and run my convoys in heavy traffic to demonstrate local roads are NOT magically more unsafe than overseas. Singapore traffic is just like in London, yes it's hectic and involves close quarters in the city but its predictable, with very limited speeds. That's much better safety wise than unpredictable and with unlimited speed.

To keep everyone safe I teach the new guys to lead from the front. This prevents the back of the convoy from being cut off by traffic because when someone sets a good pace in front and everyone knows the route those of us who know how my teams are run can automatically disperse the back end or even split into multiple sections to adapt to traffic conditions where necessary. No "waiting to get run over by lorries" scenario nor do the new guys get tailgated from behind.

This arrangement also allows the tactical commander to maintain flexibility by overseeing from the back - not doing anything if all is smooth, only going into action to bring everyone in line if a challenging condition is up ahead or I need to redirect the group. Hence, its a leadership building experience for future convoy leaders who get to ride in the vanguard (usually a two man command section is chosen and they learn to cooperate in route planning/leading the team) and the experienced riders follow, protect and advise.

At certain easily recognisable points in the route I usually setup a small challenge. The task might involve a formation change, swapping convoy assignment or splitting into two groups to take different routes to a common end point. This keeps things lively, encourages personal friendships between riders ("pick a partner" style) and of course, you get to act like a dance choreographer :3

These videos of mine do not discriminate between cars and bikes. Senior bikers use both types of vehicles based on need :)

Not really don't check. Higher chance of checking blind spot already and feel that they have enough space to squeeze in. (heck care attitude)

from the vid it looks that way

but on the road can confirm he did not check the blind spot

cause when he start to cut in while parallel with me i start to slow down and move towards my right

that is when he saw me and move back to his left slightly...

but i did no pick up speed immediately so he can cut cause was slightly pissed...

this was not caught on the cams

95% of road users don't check their blind spot in Singapore. Yes this statistic is based only on my humble little rider experience, but I swear when I see a car driver actually check his blind spot BEFORE changing lane I wanna stop to hug him.

Last Saturday:

"Company command" exercise involving large convoy transit to an initial point (start of a road course). Desmond's KRR club providing escort duty part of the way just like WW2 bomber missions.

Company breaks into "platoons" to traverse possible heavy traffic areas to rendezvous at the next waypoint (Marina Bay Sands)

Challenges -

All sorts of bikes, varying rider experience levels. The majority of us are meeting up for the first time.

Host DIY/tuning lessons and photography en route

Learn to operate a new HUD projector with aviation style instrumentation options

Delivering pillion passengers and riders to various fall-out locations on time

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0WyWCLGD3A

Operational isses:

None - since personal initiative and creativity was fully encouraged, problems are solved more or less immediately. We had to improvise a "kopitiam engineering" fix to one of the bikes which suffered electrical failure. This was done in 5 minutes flat and didn't cause any delay to the other riders - they had standing orders to automatically take over as route navigator and proceed to the next waypoint.

Non-autocratic management means riders are not afraid to share their skills and take command of their squad/platoon to surmount a given challenge.

Event support provided by Padi's Point restaurant (Toa Payoh central) and Desmond's KRR riders (short range "fighter escort" to and from Hougang)

A low-light HD resolution production takes an entire day to edit, post process and upload! Special software tools are needed to get the best out of raw HD footage because... the video shows everything :p

This convoy pretty much required military combined-arms tactics to operate. There were two GIANT bikes in it and they were the centre of the 'task force'. There were also little bikes which were so handy to scoot ahead with and secure the next waypoint ahead of the battle fleet.

You have to manually select the 720p resolution from the widget above as it defaults to 360p I think.
