Filming my ride

hey guys, i'm rather interested to flim my ride. currently, i'm quite interested in a bullet designed camera which can be easily mounted on a helmet etc.

 

im rather interested in this particular brand and model which is known as the ContourRoam. Anyone of you guys know if it's available in SG?

my dad bought for me at cathay photo at peninsula plaza...

it was not raining...

just normal ride in waterproof housing...

but from the video you can see the big difference in with and without the inserts...

with the inserts can see the much reduced fogging...

i guess it might be our climate that is the cause...

i tried today with 4 inserts and there is still slight fogging...

 

next will try out something...

going to bake it 1st before using to try out...

Could it be the location of the camera mounted that causes the fogging?

Because I was riding in the rain yesterday but there doesn't seems to have fog, and I mount it at the front of my bike.

I used to convert to avi then use Windows Live Movie Maker. But that has somehow screwed up and even old projects cannot be viewed let alone be edited.

 

Anyone got any ideas? frustrating.....

If the camera records in mp4 I will usually convert it to avi using a reliable all in one converter that does not introduce artifacts during conversion. FormatFactory and AnyVideoConverter by Anvsoft comes to mind.

 

It takes some experimentation to make mp4 conversions work but once you got the right formula just stick to what works for you.

 

If you can give me a small sample file I could take a look and it and make some editing/conversion recommendations. MP4 is a rather universal format and it can be made up of different types of codecs ranging from divx to h.264 and many others. Without looking at the media stream properties it's hard to recommend a solution.

If you are going to convert for editing, can try Squared 5's MPEG Stream clip.

for my videos,i use quicktime pro to trim 1st...

then i use proshow producer or wondershare to do the cropping and editing...

Now suddenly even my old 'Windows Live projects' cannot be opened. I think something changed the file association or dunno what. $#!@@!$@#. All my previous works also cannot open. I can see the avi thumbnail, but the editing screen is just black + audio.

 

Annoying cos some of the older stuff i spent a lot of time doing.

 

Anyway, thanks again for the software tips.

thats 1 of the reasons why i gave up on windows live movie maker...

experienced too many problems with it...

will only use it as the last resort...

why can't windows come out with something like imovie...

sad to say only windows movie maker or imovie....

another way(wrong teaching) is to find cracks/keygens for the programs...

then quicktime pro will be all you need...

I use vReveal to touchup and edit low-resolution footage. There are newer HD versions of it too. Not only you can do quite advanced HDR processing with this software, it also converts troublesome mp4 files into easily editable avi, or publish direct to wmv.

Thanks for all the help so far, anyway..... i gave up and went with iMovie. Just means i have to transfer files from comp to comp every so often. But at least it works.

@Alvin, yeah Taxi are the scum of the road. TP actually has a dept for taxi complaints (they probably have so many complaints they need a dept to themselves). I am sure you have the full clip. submit to TP and take action. Get the idiot off the road
