Hi people, I have 2 extra GoPro HD Hero2 Motorsport Edition. It was part of a mass order and I needed to get 2 extras so that can get it at $430 each, inclusive of shipping and GST. Found another con. E portion where e lens is, is waterproofed. But today after e heavy morning rain. I found tat on e internal side of e cover has some vapor. Of coz after a while e vapor disappears. wonder if it really is waterproof to 20meters. :/

 

@Alvin. Able to share if yours ve this issue?

rode in the rain a few times still ok...

vapour might be the sealing for your set is not fully sealed/damage...

try to use silicon to seal the front lens cover there...

thats the chance have to take when buying from overseas seller...

Thats quite a nice video ESP with the music anyway Maybe I've missed out when u post what cam u using. Did you fix it behind your visor ? are you able to see number plates clearly when on the move in you original uncompressed video ?

I am using vado hd from creative @s$299. Records 640x480, hd and hd plus. battery last 2 hours for hd recording. 4gb = 2hrs hd. Like flip hd but smaller. I place in helmet and cut the foam the use 3m double lock. Can see plate number clearly but I always use hd recording, hd plus only last 1 hr.

If convenient. Can u post a pic of your camera mounting ? Will be great to mount in helmet instead of outside. Can even buy a small nOn water proof cam. Drivers won't even notice you taking video of them. (spy camera)

Updated setup, my previous uses normal cheap velco and had more vibration plus i always like to look down at my meter. Now i use 3M Dual lock, more stable.

I think this type of setup need longer/oval helmet because it is infront of your nose. I had no problem because by seeing the pic, there is 3 small black rubber, these are air intakes and i get lots of fresh air coming in! just that my helmet is little more noisy as i am using Nolan Flip Up N103.

Thanks for the detailed illustrations. At first I thought might affect your sight. But after your explanations. It's really a good idea. It fits very well for your helmet. However I might have a problem mounting as my hjc helmet ( same model as @daniel"s) the front part although there's ample Space. The shape is Sharper than yours. Thus I think may not work on mine. Having anything near your face can be very dangerous when you crash.

 

Better to get a waterproof ones and mount it else where.

I think e mount is a nice creative idea. Well done. But same as lycan i also think it has a slight risk. But my face also too big so wont suit me. Lol. Touch wood also but if touch wood thing happen, a smart evil person will argue tt injury is inflated due to modded helmet.

 

Anyway a update on my camera's water vapor on e internal side of lens cover. After some research, it seems tat this type of goods, after prolong storage, it is possible for mist to form on e internal side. Thus when come to a country like SG, due to e constant rapid weather changes, rain, sun, e water vapor or rather mist will appear.

 

I ve since used some methods to remove e mist. and also tested e camera under water. Not 20m though. Just maybe 1m or less. But since my idea is more towards riding video, i will live with this. Will continue to monitor a few days. After which if satisfied, will get usd$15 from DX

I agree on the risk it had when place inside, hence i will not use the camera if i need to ride fast or i am tired. Anyone here tried Drifthd before? New version one. The camera comes with remote control.

There isnt a need to debate. End of the day, we live to ride another day.

That is one way to see it. But it still does not make it right for drivers to mow us down. That mentality of flesh over metal and metal over flesh is what makes drivers think they are always safe and have a upper hand hence they do not give a hoot of riders' safety.
