Actually they can check with their system if your pipe is legal. If they want to bring you back to base, that means they are purposely making life hard for you...:sian:

When you mod your vehicle, it's a matter of time the law will catch up on you. So when you are caught, just pay up and move on.

What's there to complain ? In any case, the words of a civil servant will always carry more weight, unless you have evidence to substantial your claim.

The goal here is to minimise the damage to your wallet but if your ego is worth more, then please stop reading further.

I have my fair share of speeding fines and illegal mods, in all my encounters with the TPs, they were courteous and politel. They definitely received some professional trainings on how to carry themselves when dealing with members of the public.

Another very important factor when stopped by TPs is to put on your best behavior, not only in your speech and also in your body language. If you can act like a recruit when being spoken to by your CO, then you are doing a pretty fine job but remember to always wear a smile. When told of your offence, first thing to do is to apologise for it, and link it to a reason, and not an excuse. I have a stomach ache is a reason whereas I am late for XXX, is an excuse.

Arguing with the TP will not only get you no where but it will further irritate him especially if he has already a long day with no bookings.

Pleading may work, at least to reduce the penalty in whatever offence you have committed.

Here is my best experience. I was once stopped a TP on CTE, I was going slightly higher than allowed with no seat belt. When I got out of my car, he kept shaking his head, and I knew I am in for the big time. My Honda prelude has illegal body kit, illegal exhaust, no signal lamps, and of course for speeding and no seat belt.

I reasoned with him that this car will be scrapped soon, and pleaded with him. He walked around the car one more time, and said he couldn't let me off, and I just kept quiet. After a while he said with a laugh to me "ok, tell me what you want me to book you for". I though for a moment and reply "For the signal light, can ?"

He took out his little PDA and key in the ticket, and printed it out for me and zoomed away.

I was lucky that time, and also a few other times because I knew how not to aggravate the situation. The bottom line is that the TP has a job to do but they are also human. Your immediate reaction will determine how they prioritise their roles.

Well said. Impartial analysis of the whole situation.

Kinda reminds me of one case at Woodlands Checkpoint. A biker was stopped for bringing in an open pack of cigarettes and was stopped by the ICA chap. The ICA chap politely told him than it is still taxable. The arrogant biker argued in a loud voice and said, "WHAT! Single open pack also cannot, ah???"

So, as you can guess, the biker was told to park at the side and brought to the Customs office where he was shown the statutes that every single stick is still dutiable. Had the biker opened his mouth in a more amiable manner, the ICA officer would just have advised him and let him go on his way.

came back from a trip about 2 weeks ago. there was an opened cigarette pack on my pouch. as the pouch was at the back of body and quite troublesome to bring it to the front of the body with all the jacket, riding pants and ipod shuffle got in the way and difficulty to open the zip wif gloves, i jz asked the officer jz to open the zip himself. he opened the flyer and nv said anything and let me go

check their system? by what if the cert is missing? the serial of the pipe?

Faster than fast,

Quicker than quick.

Posted

LTA have a database with all the serial numbers of the different models.

eg: cb400 yoshi might have serial no. of 1XABC-123

cbr600 micron might have serial no. of 23XDEF-321

once entered in their system, they will know whether it's a legal pipe or not.

but of course it helps to have the cert or registered user card on hand..

Stock is good...Choose your weapon wisely and enjoy it...you can have all the $$$$ to mod and in the end you can't make full use of it....

asking you to chnage to the correct standard is a requirement from them...composition fine cannot be avioded..because u have broken the rules in the first place...i have been escorted before somewhere in the year of 2008.

yes u are total right my bro...

but the situation with him is that he was caught by the Task Force. not LTA.

when we inspect and register our legal exhaust, its done at LTA. not at TP.

the detail and information is held by the LTA. so retrieving back is a ease for them but not the TP.

that is the reason why the TF brought him back and did not summom him. the summon and inspecting is all done at LTA. and that is also the reason why he is escorted back to Sin Ming LTA on Monday, which the inspection centre is open.

having the certifcation with you all time on bike is a show of registering and inspected by the LTA. this is the bridge to access the information on site. you can choose not to carry it with ya, so have to take bus to TP on monday morning to get escort back to LTA to show them the letter and inspect again.. dont u find it more troublsome than just carry a few pieces of paper with ya?

anyway, hows ya back... should be fine by now... :p miss ya
