Disabling of Automatic headlamp switch-on function on motorcycles

This is to make the motorcycles more conspicuous to all road users thus enhancing the safety of the motorcyclists.

Motorcycles registered in Singapore on or after 1st November 1997 must be equipped with an automatic headlamp switch-on function to comply with the above requirement.

Disabling of this function is not allowed.

thanks for that IvikaRazI... that's good news

coz i should have to send my bike for inspection in a couple of months and was wondering about that :)

Grounded... :/

The purpose for installing the switch is to conserve battery power while warming up in the morning. Not to go riding without your lights! have the switch hidden so inspection not a problem. anyway, i have friends with the switch right at handlebar, the inspector also wont bother. just remember to turn on the switch.

i remember once my battery gave up after i turned the key, cos the lights also turned on. cannot start bike. that's after not using bike for 2 weeks. that's my previous bike.

My YBR can turn off the lights. CDC YBR can turn off the lights. All YBRs i've seen got switch to turn off the lights. How? Am i riding an illegal bike?

I do not think it will be a prob at inspection centres. They will not bother that much. LTA (ROV) will look into these more seriously. Even TP won't bother.

For that, only one person can answer. LTA or TP. Do ask/email them if you wanna find out more. I'm sure they will be willing to share with you the answer.

Do post the answer from them.

basically you just have to ON the switch when you are riding...As simple as that..:sian:

you can switch it OFF when you are warming up the bike and not riding...:thumb:
