Hi Honda riders,

Any ideas on the workmanship and cost for servicing your bikes at Boon Siew?

How much are they charging for fork seal replacement for upside down forks?

Thanks

i've serviced n repaired my bike there b4, under warranty... not very good experiences. would prefer to do repair outside if not for warranty.

when not under warranty, labour costs starts from $100, spares from their centre got discount (not all) if bike is a BS bike.

Here's my personal experience.

Price wise, it's definitely very expensive.

Pros: They really do things by the book. Whatever the manual says to replace they will replace. This is good because normal bike shops will not do this because they will not have all the small parts and gaskets, so some crucial stuff like oil screw o-rings never get replaced.

Some people think this is not so good because some things don't have to be replaced every time, for e.g. the fairing clips.

They will take time to troubleshoot your problem instead of asking you to throw parts at it till problem goes away.

Professional and friendly service, you book time, go down, leave your bike and pick up later, no need to wait around for them to service other people's bikes first.

They'll check the service interval and recommend you change certain things if they need to be changed. E.g. clutch/brake oil, etc. They will not push you to change things that are unnecessary, as they are salaried workers and don't make a profit from doing that, so no conflict of interest (mostly, in my experience).

They give 3 month warranty on work done. How well they honour this and to what extent, however, I have totally no idea. A warranty is only as good as the person who honours it, so can't really comment on this part as I have no experience.

Cons:

- Very expensive. Their labour charges are very expensive and their parts are also more expensive than normal shops. When I asked my mechanic why this is so, he said because they can get parts (original) from other places and also they have discounts as a motor shop, which they'll pass on to the customer. The total bill that comes out could be double that (or more) of a normal shop. Again, my experience.

- Things don't always get done right. To be fair, they don't always get done right in other places either, but being an agent and a specialist I'd hold them to higher standards. My personal experience of them screwing up stuff is routing my radiator hoses wrongly. There's 2 radiator hoses going into my radiator, one goes to the engine, one to the coolant tank. They swapped the 2 and routed them wrongly, as a result my engine kept overheating and coolant spewed all over. This was when I just bought my bike. I had to search online forums and troubleshoot myself before I finally found the problem.

Another experience was them not fixing my starter switch and just spraying WD-40 and charging me $20+ for labour. Problem came back again after 4 months, and so paid money for nothing.

IMO, use them for stuff that other shops won't bother doing because of the time taken. Because BS charges by the hour, they'll troubleshoot for you. Other than that, normal servicing I'd rather go to independent workshops, and keep a roster of what needs servicing at what mileage.

Hope this helps.
