Welcome Adam

For minor rust removal I use scotch bright which has been in use in the home for some time and is on the verge of being thrown away, new scotchbrite is too harsh. Use lightly with polish.

Additional parts for your bike, for your safety in the event of a low speed spill, crash bars, if you stay on the bike as you go over it they will save your legs, they also help to reduce damage to the bike too.

Replace the foot pegs with foosteps, on a long ride they allow you to stretch your legs and change positions frequently. Both of these items aren't expensive and are great features.

Happy and safe trails

Yup, Aitch is right! Crash Bar is important and shud be amongst the 1st items to get.

Cheers!

Contrary to popular notion a crashbar is not a "sissy" device. You do not want a heavy machine laying on your leg. Chosen well, it can even enhance the outlook of the motorcycle and serve as mount point for accessories like lights or... more footrests.

Using aftermarket footsteps as recommended above will definitely make the bike more comfortable, unless you're like me who prefers a hardcore small bike experience (lol!) and run without accessories. I'm always in leather shoes (even for grocery trips) so I just hook my heels up on the little pegs like riding horse lmao.

I'm more concerned with people using the bike as an armchair or staring at her all day! Not to mention the birds doing bombing practise.

Definitely not to be left uncovered :)

Haha!! So our phantoms no one want to steal one? Dun know if i should be happy or not. :cheeky:

my disc lock would tell me if I forget to take it off before riding :cheeky:

how does this works?

it has a motion sensitive alarm... so if I upright the bike the disc lock is gonna ring... :cheeky:

nowadays, such disc lock with alarm can be found in many places... from ah boy, from sandy, et cetera...

Can help take a picture of how it looks like? Sounds like a very good idea!

this is something similar...

Can't advise where to get your crashbars and footrest, I got mine from the Honda dealer here in Thailand if that helps.

Crocus Paper is the finest grade of sandpaper I know of for use on the mechanical removal of corrosion, it is brown in colour and extremely fine. There are probably much finer grades used by specialists, diamond cutters and jewellers for example.

You will remove the Chrome though if you rub too hard.

Thanks guys. :) which type of sand paper should I use? And where do I get the crashbar and foot rest. :)

Crash Bar can get from LAB or Ah Koon.

- Lab aka Lim Ah Boy @ Kelantan Lane

- Ah Koon @ 61 Lengkok Bahru

Think we shud move this to "typical prices for phantom repairs n mods" where you can fine plenty of discussion on this topic! Cheers!

Don't forget to change your horn(if they are stock) to those extra loud ones! Drivers tend to bully bikes with horn that sound like a tweety bird..:cheeky:

Check out the repair & mod thread..

That was my way of thinking too, but after paying for a new bike, cash down, crashbars, footsteps, spotlights, windshield (since removed), Topbox (removed also as it made the bike look hideous in my mind) , insurance, registration and roadtax, the wad of cash was severely depleted, do it later I thought.

I noticed though that the horn seemed to have a real effect on the packs of dogs we get here. Many of the accidents here are caused by this unholy nuisance, they lie in wait at the side of the road to ambush you.

So to cut a long story short I've kept the same wimpy sounding horn.

However in a law abiding, orderly and well regulated country such as Singapore I doubt if you have that problem.

Haha... Some of the Singapore's drivers are road bullies especially those with big cars/trucks/buses/taxis! I had a few incident whereby these vehicles just swing into my lane knowingly that I was there and my stock horn can't even be heard! After having changed to a snail shape one, everyone know that I'm there! Ofcos I dun go round horning, only when situation arises!

Hi guys, just wish to ask if the sun's rays are shining directly into your eyes especially around 7 - 9 am plus, how do you cope?

I wear sunglasses also no use as the sun's rays really very powerful.

Bro, I look slightly downwards or sideways away from sun rays but not untill I can't see the road ahead! And once awhile try to check all blind spots. I would recommend you try to ride slower and to the extreme left most if need arises for you to stop. Cheers!
