Engage 1st Gear, Bike Jerk & Stalls

Hi,

 

Due to my accident last December, my Scrambler was not used for the past few months'.

 

But every week, I kick-start, no problemo'. Battery Light still Strong.

Clutch Cable Adjusted

Side-Stank Switch OK, clean

 

..but whenever I engage into the 1st Gear, Bike jerks and stalls.

So I can't ride the bike

 

Anyone knows the problem ?

 

Tips ? Suggestions ?

Or better still, visit me at West Coast (in the vicinity of Esso),..I buy Drinks + Makan,...

When you kick start and stuff, you are in neutral gear. But when you kick down to gear 1 with clutch pull in, your bike jerk and stalls.

 

Check your clutch cable free play, if there is too much free play you might not be able to dis-engage your clutch. If clutch cable free play is ok, then problem is most likely your clutch. Get your mech to check.

this 1 i also kena a few days back i think

 

friends bike 3mths nvr start

 

then can start liao i just kick gear 1 move

 

bike just jerk and stall instantly

 

friend tell me let it idle for awhile then ok liao

 

after that then kick gear 1 then move

What bike? Hydraulic clutch or cable?

 

If cable, please check clutch cable... Clutch cable might have came loose at engine side. so when you clutch in, it is still engaged.

 

Hydraulic one, check fluid (hydraulic fluid low), bleed it (might be air bubble in cable), pump the clutch till pressure build up.

I suspect 2 things:

 

1. bad fuel, water in fuel

2. sticking clutch plate

 

Cure for No. 1

Change the fuel

 

Cure for No. 2

No need to start the bike, put your bike in gear, pull the clutch lever all the way in and push the bike for one big round around the car park until you start to perspire. This will break the friction plates and steel plates that may stick together due to long storage. After the exercise, start the engine, pull the clutch lever all the way in and let go for 10 times when the engine is idling at neutral, this will allow the engine oil to lubricate the clutch plates. Now you can try to engage first gear, if the engine stalls again, don’t look for me….
