does anyone know why the gear shifting in the superstock bikes that they use for the isle of man TT race look different from the ones we learn here? i see the video of them shifting up the gears by pressing their toes down...and shifting down the gears by pulling their toes up. that is completely different from how we do it. anyone know?

see this clip at 3:50 onwards...

Inverted gear shift is standard for race bikes. It is to increase corner clearance because the bike will be in lower gear when cornering. In the same way it prevents the foot from scraping the ground or worse, getting caught between the lever and the track when exiting a corner.

However, do supermotos use normal gear shift? I'm not sure about this.

Supermotos will be much higher.... i doubt they need inverted gear shift to prevent leg scraping.

Supermotos aint much higher, scraping of footpegs happens too, but to counter that we have footpegs sliders.. see attachment..

due the the construction of the gear lever, most supermotos cant have a inverted shift.. unlike sportsbike.. how i wish i can invert shift my DRZ too..

hey biting_point...is that footpeg slider stock with the bike or you had to get it from somewhere?

My YBR has an external lever welded to it. Like those old skool bikes. So when i am wearing nice shoes i kick down to go higher gear and kick down the other side to do down gear. :)
