Just sharing my experience with those thinking of getting a used gsxr400.

They may be cheap but replacing the parts are not cheap. Mostly I done my replacement at Guan Hoe.

1) Service the rear brake (replace the piston and o-ring) + brake pad = $160

2) Replace rear suspension (used) = $180

3) Valve clearance + coolant + air filter + hose = $263.32

Other stuff like replacing rear foot rest, rectifier, replacing the wirings etc cost about +- $200.

Self maintenance like overhauling the carburetor which include replacing all the o-rings and floats etc cost about +-$300 (the replacement parts are not cheap)

Not forgetting regular engine oil (syn oil), oil filter and spark plugs change = $174

Hence my advice to potential future owners, keep about twice the amount you going to buy a used gsxr400, they are for replacing the old parts.

Final words, this bike is really cool and powerful (for an old bike, and you don't have worry about getting mulled by other 400cc bikes. >8k rpm and you are flying) if you really take good care of it.

Life is good.

hahaha not veteran la.

CBR/RVF also old bikes liao. If they never service and replace parts then it is just for show too. Not all of them on the road now is 'powerful' liao. Same as some gsxr400 too. :)

Why want to make it loud? I find that my stock end can is too noisy hahaha.

If you 'tong' your end can, then you will disrupt the air-fuel ratio. Then got to find a good machanic to tune it, which I am not sure who is reliable.

Life is good.

~~~or park our bike in a spot and dine at Geylang(More Crowded) :)
