i intend to change the o-rings myself @ workplace then tune the carbs. tune should be very fast. its only when i have to take the carbs out & service, put back to factory setting cos bikeworkz never listen to me when i asked him to adjust the mixture screws!! never mind, i intend to buy online when my o-rings arrive from UK. only S$120+... wish me good luck!!

fuel injector not easy la, maybe wash throttle body can d.i.y... fuel injector need machine to wash. tunning? not easy too,let the mech handle since you got so much $$. the only d.i.y i suggest you to do is WASH BIKE!! lolx.

i will take photos of my own diy carbs!!

actually for the mapping u can get it from PCIII website too...they have alot of different maps there..u might just happen to get one that has got similar configuration as u..although not really customized for ur bike..but at least better than stock mapping

hi guys, i thinking of buying a class 2A bike, and i think this i like the nicest of all the class 2A bikes already. I'm really quite interested in it. could you guys share your inputs on this bike? like is the maintenance expensive? and is the insurance expensive? and generally about the feel of the bike.

maintenance is same with other 400, depends how shop charge you. this bike is cheap & old. dont waste your $ & time if you are not riding for long. it may burn your pocket. insurance depends on your age. not many shop mech know about this bike so you will be told to scrap it instead of service it. feel of the bike? this stock exhaust is originally louder, i like it. top end restriction can be bypass with a resistor if you know it.

garage sale section got quite a few ppl selling, can get for 1.5-2k, condition not sure...

Cheap + fast = no good

Cheap + good = not fast

Good + fast = not cheap

but what do i actually look out for when buying a bike like this? cause im now in NS but going to study after ORD i need one that can be cheap to maintain it. may not have a income to do big works. if getting a bike that has been overhauled would it be better? they are almost 20 years old already. would it be still very ridable?

that really depends on how much previous seller spent on it. after riding for 2years, i'm still throwing $$ in. how would you know that bike has been overhauled? if i'm selling, i'll also said mine has been overhauled. IMO, a real overhauled with new spareparts cost thousands. if he's selling @ less than 2.5k, good luck. a cbr / rvf cost alot more than g4 but does it mean their bikes sure better?

for me, if i have just enough $ to buy a rvf, i'll go for a cheap decent g4. rest of the $ use for any wear & tear parts. if only have enough $ for a g4, gota just pray that i get @ least an old but strong engine.

if after you get a g4, & you want to service & balance carbs, can look for me. i'm getting the carbtune to service & balance my own carbs + change o-rings, main jets. why let shops earn that $ when can d.i.y?

cheers.

look out for forks leaking, listen to the engine as you rev & blip. if it sounds boggy, watery @ low rpm, means carbs got problems. the rest are just wear & tear, nothing to worry of. just make sure the shocks are ok. test all switches. this g4's carbs is a pain in the arse. can cost you a bomb. as for engine, if its gonna jam, dont think you have the chance to buy it.

Good evening all gurus here on the forum! i've recently gotten a gsxr400 off this forum at a bargain and i'm looking to get my hands dirty working on it. I used to own a phantom and it was great fun working on that bike. However, this machine is definitely a bigger challenge for my rather limited mechanical skills. My current bike has its tachometer not functioning correctly. it doesnt read past 8k rpm. Is there anyway i could source for a new part at minimum cost and rewire it?
