HAWK DUDE!!!

Thanks for your reply on my signal lights qn. Will get back to that after this.

Now for your bike problem. We have/had some similarities!

#1: Both our bikes yellow and black

#2: Bike got problem starting

ahem... i dun wan to sound like a broken record but.... once upon a time for many months my bike have the same problem. The problems are:

a) 2 days of not riding cannot start. Push start also cannot. Roll down hill start also cannot. Use choke also cannot.

b) Bike dies off when stop at traffic light in first gear when clutch in.

The result for (a) Get tow truck. (b) mechs set my idling very high. Around 2+ on the rpm meter. Everybody ask me why my idling so high. Rode with this setting for months! Thought its because the bike is old. LL.

Solution: Wash carb and tune. Chance upon this solution when i looked for a motor diam to give me an explanation to my problem. I had gone to GH to ask for carb wash earlier but i suspect it was not done or not done properly(i believe it is a one off incident and do not mean to flame the shop.)

I went elsewhere to do it in Nov04 and till today i do not have startup probs. At most use choke. Idling is now set below 1 on rpm meter. Bike does not die when stop in first gear.

#3 Strong Petrol Smell

Encountered this in dec04. Everytime stop i smell petrol very strong. Didn't notice until day i went pg. With everyone suited up and ready to hit the track. The guy next to me point out to the floor under my bike with engine running. Leaking petrol. Stripped the G4 tank and tried to check for loose pipe didnt help.

With the engine running, from the side of the fuel tap i can see petrol dripping from under the tank. Pretty profuse. Thank God i was able to ride back to singapore without it catching fire!

The assessment of the motordiam was that one of the petrol tube had "peng zhang" or swelled until the connection was loose. Changing the tube was rather cheap think is under $10.

So it could be a loosely connected tube or a damaged tube. Pray that tank is ok.

So hope the above helps.

but from my opinion. the current wires shld be ok.. cause the current increase by 2 folds only.

ok, thanks for the input but how to achieve the power to cause the 23W bulb to light up? it's signal lights btw.

well, my bike been in and out of GH this month, due to a persistent poor idling problem.. leading to engine stall at neutral or clutch in. I juz did my valve clearance, changed my ignition coil, pulser coil, The boss of GH tested my CDI ok... rectifier ok, fuses all ok... in short wiring all ok. Juz tuned, this week monday, juz got back my bike, no adnormal symtoms.. the old problem solved. but then later tuesday nite, couldn't start. wif the help of a fazer rider uncle, managed to push start... but at that time got bike shop open meh.. I warmed up my bike did a few rounds, quite ok.... . Stopped and restart the bike(still hot), can start... but wednesday morning, couldn't start again. this time round found my throttle cable to be disconnected from the carbs. I meant disconnected. u use my finger to push the end connector back into position, any way, even when the cable is disconnected, the throttle "returns". but at the cable end theres no movement,

when throttle is "pulled"

So even if i push start the throttle is consider dead liao. cannot push start liao rite?

Tried every thing liao. head light, signal light, rear light, IU, all got power, and bright, start can hear a very strong cranking sound. Pulled choke to start also cannot, kill switch at "run". I did several push start, can see engine starting, but when pull throttle no response, then bike dies. There is a very strong petrol smell, no leakage, wasn't there in the past. the only observable error is the loose in responsive throttle cable connection.

Anyway, juz wan to clarify one point. The Fazer uncle told me that, push start is not the same as pressing the magic button. push start is to let the magneto takes over the starting process, anyway, dun quite understand but thats wat he says. Sianz, these fews days holiday, GH close...

If it's hard-starting when cold and starts okay when warm, it looks like might be a jetting issue. Perhaps you can try e-starting with the throttle at various throttle opening to find the correct one. You might have to adjust the idling screw as well.

Mine, just pull choke, leave throttle alone, e-start and it'll start up and let it warm

up and it'll be fine.

Sometimes the bike will refuse to start and then I realise petrol on reserve.

Just switch to reserve and walao.... starts up just fine.

You might wanna change shop???

:goodluck:

Why dun u just get a 10W batt and replace it. If not later one big and one small....

Wiring can be such a headache. That's why till now I haven't do my headlight yet.

Removing the fairing/tank/tracing/troubleshooting the wiring.... Argh....

I've know wad's the problem for my bike. It's due to the rectifier. it's melted n smoked out. causing to over-current the main fuse. when i disconnected the rectifier, it's back to normal... will be getting the 2nd hand rectifier from ah boy only for $40. phew~
