Hi all, im currently lookin to downgrade to save $$$ for ard 3yrs+ thereafter will upgrade back to 2A/2 bike

Been doing my sums... On average i will spend $3000 per year if i ride my S4.

That sum includes

1) Yearly wear and tear items (tire, spocket and chain, brake pads)

2) Servicing (Engine oil and spark plug)

3) Insurance

4) Road tax

5) Petrol (18000km)

So, im searchin around, looking for 2B/2A(maybe 250cc) bike to buy. My budget is 6k(trade in price of my S4)

Things that im looking at are

1) Weight of bike (i dun tink i wan somethin too light weight, at least 120kg)

2) Storage space ( i wan some bike that can put at least a 45L box)

3) Easy on maintenance and insurance

4) Fuel comp of 30km/L at least

5) Reasonable resale value

6) Speed is not so much of a consideration for me. at long pick up ok, then acn travel 100-110 without prob can liao...

Is my requirements too high cos im not been able to find somethin suitable yet...

Any recommediations or comments?

your sum of $3000 a year on a S4 sounds like a lot! doesnt even take into account depreciation. if you do a similar type of costing for your intended bike, how much do you think you will spend per year?

how about a scooter? x9 evo is prob within your price range, but the older, cheaper 250cc version is also worth considering.

chunkie:

Yes, i didnt knoe im spending so much til now that i did a detailed breakdown in the amt of $ im spending...

I done comparsion to some other bikes using the same formula...

X9 is one of them. I not comsidering the Evo 200 version as it has a lot of probs like water pump, engine mountin, steering cone, LCD meter etc... I will mostly likely incur more $ in repairin those items...

Im now considering Majesty 250 MK2 and x9 250cc (Honda Engine)...

After the doing the sums, i would spend around $2100 on them yearly using the same formula when i calulate my S4.

I knoe S4 is a good bike...

But I setting my piority on saving $$$ for the nxt few years... I would not hesitate to upgrade back to 1 next time if i have chance...

i recommend suzuki gn250 esp. if u dont mind to use yr 2A license. Parts arte cheap and available and its simple and realible. guan hoe has all engine part on hand. Fuel is up to 35km/l. Its the best selling commuter bike in New Zealand in the 80's. Its extemely sensible, only problem is so call ah pek looks which dont heck care if like the bike..anyway its retro. pm me if u wan to test - not selling though. Very comfortable sitting on chair riding position - not feed forward
