Just want to share with the bros here a very unfair fine I kena.

I was fined for lining up in a bus lane just behind taxis and vehicles entering Centrepoint. The taffic warden was positioned just beyond the queue of vehicles which I had to line up behind.

This is most unjust. Damn the LTA. In the interest of safety, I HAD NO CHOICE but to filter into the bus lane to line up behind the other vehicles which were already in the bus lane. I am refusing to pay the fine and will appeal.

Did you signal your intention to enter the Carpark?

I believe you have a very good chance that its going to get waived. If my memory did not fail me, that taxi stand was relocated to the now Orchard Central ground.

LTA should remove these taxi stands which are found along the Full Day Bus Lane.

bus lanes are the bane of singapore roads for us riders and drivers. the buses can come out of the bus lanes but we cannot go inside. still...hope your appeal is successful. do let us know the outcome.

i can't remember where the dotted line parts of that particular bus lane is located. but those areas are ok for us to be in. from your diagram, maybe its possible to form up behind those cars in red?

anyway, its a bad design decision for the road planners there.

You have only 7 days to compound the offence by paying the fine.

What you should do is to write your appeal, and sent it together with the Notice, with the driver's particular completed, and a cheque for the fine.

You can't always blame LTA. At times, the positioning of the over zealous enforcement officer to which LTA sub-contract, is really bad. Such as immediately after the dotted bus lane marking which you would inevitably stray into when exiting or entering. Things get worse especially on a busy junction such as the turning into Centrepoint.

Chances of a successful appeal is slim as they have photographic evidence.

As a matter of fact, I just got fine $130 for similar offence buy driving, and I have sent my appeal in, with my cheque.

Anyway, what is the fine for bikes ? Also $130 ?

i understand your situation.. that part of the road is in a mess.. you wouldnt know if cars are stuck there waiting for traffic light to turn green, waiting to turn into the carpark or whatever reasons.. it is unfair for them to fine you for this. BUT! this is sg. nonetheless i hope your appeal is successful.

EVERY SINGLE DAY that stretch of road in front of UOB bank till Plaza Singapura will be congested especially during the evening.what with tipper trucks turning out from the 313@Somerset site and taxis waiting at the taxi stand AND vehicles entering into Centrepoint...the traffic wardens aren't supposed to be there.its v unfair to catch riders/drivers going into the bus lanes before turning into Centrepoint. If they don't turn early, they will cause congestion on other lanes

Do not trouble trouble unless trouble troubles you

traffic wardens shld position them self on a straight road with no left turn ahead, this might create an unfair summon fines to those really going to make a left turn.

just like lentor ave towards yishun totally straight road.

Most likely your fine will be waived when you explain it to the LTA officer. I had a similar incident. Travelling along Hill Street wanna turn left to Stamford Road going to Orchard. Kena fine for entering bus lane! WTF!!! Like that don't put a traffic light there and an arrow turning left lah since the left most lane is the only lane that can turn left. Waste my time going to LTA to explain. Nowadays just try to avoid bus lanes unless necessary.

i find that the unbroken bus lane line is all designed to near the turns...that means we can only go inside bus lane very near to the turns...very dangerous also..not careful might overshot lol.

ya stupid design... then sometimes because got traffic light the buses have to stop in the dotted area... if there's more than one bus... good luck to everyone else who needs to turn too...

boring rider. with a boring bike.

too old to want to appear interesting anymore.

Well, I got the appeal rejected with a line in the rejectionletter that said:“From our site observation, the dotted section of the bus lane is sufficient for vehicles to safely filter before turning left. Even with the taxi queue back onto the bus lane, turning vehicles should be able to filter in after the ingress point of the taxi stand.”

I beg to differ. The area after the ingress point was made even more dangerous with BOTH taxis leaving the taxi stand after picking up passengers AND vehicles queuing to turn left into Centrepoint Shopping Centre. I filtered into the bus lane only a few metres before it ended for well-intentioned safety reasons.

I am adamant and re-appealing. damnit.

You're the man!

Yes, agreed - just got some summon waived off after appeal - gahment ppl aka civil servant are reasonable ppl at times.. as long you have really valid reason and not always repeatedly do the same mistake, i thk they're ok wan..

They, enforcer - catch motorist is their job.

We, rider/driver - admit fault and appeal lor - Dun argue lar (CASE not effect on them wan, rite..?) Haha..

Appeal time, diff story redi.

Btw, the above pic seems nice - submit and maybe they also impressed..

brudder take how, I can write letter of appeal for you anytime, but no guarantee will succeed.

Honestly, it has very little to do with English. The trick is in the tone of the letter. To put it in picture, it will be something like this :

Another poor positioning of these enforcement officers is at the ICA building. The bus stop is just before the turn-in to the carpark, so the all-day bus lane marking is until the bus bay, after which is broken red lines about 15-20m before the turn-in to the carpark.

Typically after the peak hours, the road is very smooth flowing, so cars tend to stray into the All-day bus lane as they are turning into the ICA building carpark.

These drivers are obviously not trying to get ahead of the traffic by using the all day bus lane as the road is absolutely clear.

The number of drivers get flouting the all day bus late must be very high as they have to station two enforcement officers there.
