Confuse with my demerit points now

Last mth I got 9 demerit points n fine while riding bike. Nw the problem is I just passed my class 3 license today how much points do i have now 3points left or 12points? Anybody got experience it or know this kind of situation? :confused:

If i am not mistaken, you should still be left with 3 points. Obtained a new class license does not automatically erased demerit points that was given within the same year.

 

All class license shared the same points structure.

 

Before they returned the 9 points to you, better drive/ride carefully. Think once, twice and thrice before doing anything foolish.

 

Anyway i maybe wrong and stands to be corrected. ^_^

u get back ur 9 point 1yr+1day after ur offence, n u're back to 12.

yes..regardless of how many class of license u have, once u got a new licence, u r automatically under 12pt/12mth probation. so any offence u made under bike or car..it goes toward that 12pt probation.

 

say for this case u got a 9pt demerit..u only left with 3pts now and it takes 1yr to reset ur points provided that YOU DO NOT COMMIT ANOTHER OFFENCE WITHIN THAT 1 YEAR..if u happen to commit another offence within 1 year of that 9 pt dmerit offence..it takes 24 mths to reset bk..its a common misconception of many people that 1 yr is all it takes for all the offences committed.

hmmmm... i think it work this way. He just pass his class three. It drop to new motorist status. Hence He only have 12 points now. Presently he has 9 demerit points. Therefore 12-9, left with 3 points.

 

After a year from the date of offence, he get back the 9 points. He will have 21 points. Then after a year from his class 3, he will have 24 points again.

 

 

This is my assumption ah. Not to sure how it works exactly. I stand to be corrected, ya.

then ur 15pts will then be reset back to 12pts coz u juz got ur cls3... shdn't it work tis way?

if u take a new class, all point revert back to 12. if u have prev offence, it dont mean a new class will erase it off, so for ts's case 12-9=3, have to wait 1yr after the offence commited to clear the 9pt, then another yr of no offence to earn the 12pt.

thats the confusion part, but i believe i'm right:

 

after the 1yr probation, u're suppose to get 12pt, but since u've an offence, u cant get 12pt. so u need to clear ur 9pt 1st. so 1yr after the 9pt cleared, u get ur 12pt.

 

in short, u cleared all ur offence (ie, 1yr after ur last offence), u get 12point only. u need +1yr free of offence to get max 24pt.

techinically your license share the same demerit structure, but the date of obtaining your classes of license matters. i asumme TS is not on p-plate and has no demerit points prior to the 9 he received. so on his bike license its 24-9 which gives him 15. he got his class 3 after that and most ppl assume that its automatic demerit on the class 3 also. fact is it isnt. u need to get another 13 points to get ur class 3 revoked. why am i sure? ive been thru the same ****. 1st jan 05 got my class 3, 2nd feb 05 got 6 points on my license. 3rd mar 05 got my 2B, and 4 april 05 i got 12 points for speeding. initially i thot i would get both class revoked, but only my class 3 was revoked. during the meeting at the TP HQ at ubi to modify my license, i asked why wasnt my 2b revoked, the officer told me that past demerit do not affect newly obtained classes. ppl misunderstood the concept of the demerit system thus having lots of ppl thinking that all class of license share the smae amount of 'left over' points. the reason why Tp advice us not to try and obtain a new class of license if u are in the dangerzone is because in case u get more points and get yourself revoked b4 your tp date, then you are automatically remove the rights of obtaining a new license of any class for a year, thus wasting your money. hope i cleared sth up. even so, drive safe and ride slow
