I have a 2005 Honda ANF125 which currently only has a kick-starter, but would like to fit an electric starter to it.

I live in Thailand and these bikes are extremely common, so getting hold of a used starter shouldn't be too difficult. I have compared my bike to one with a starter and can see a blanking plate covering where the starter attaches to the engine. The wiring loom section from the battery to the rest of the bike is slightly different and incorporates a relay - I should be able to get one fairly easily. The battery capacity appears to be identical, but I am not sure whether the alternator has the same rating. I realise that I will have to run a couple of wires up to the starter button.

I am an engineer and should be capable of installing the starter and modifying the wiring, however, I need to know a few things before I can start;

i) Are the starter motors identical, or are there different type to match different starter-ring types? What makes and model are used?

ii) I do not have a schematic wiring-diagram for the bike and would be very grateful if someone could supply one as I need to know whether the starter circuit is connected via any sort of inhibiter, such as the 'neutral' gear indicator.

Many thanks in advance.
