To reduce the heat loss around the exhaust system..

some say to reduce the heat u experience during jam..

some say to increase the performance..

some is prevent leg kena burn by the mid section..

Thermal warpping is done for several reasons:

prevent burns when working on hot parts, especially in large industrial, earthmoving, marine and power generation environments,

minimise heat transfer to the surrounding space which most often includes the intake system, cooler air is denser,

mininise heat loss, and therefore some power loss throughh the exhaust system, by maximising transfer of exhaust gases.

Really the advantages of wrapping are almost insignificant. While it may cause some premature rusting of your exhaust system, through condensation.
