The CVTR and Civic2.0 diff in premiums man ;)

u can't compare civic type R and the normal civic even though they have the same engine capacity.... The value between these 2 cars is already almost $20k diff and the horse power and torque is diff as well...... Engine tuning is of different nature as well.... whereas Kia Cerato forte and the koup is of similar engine nature........so how to compare?? :sian:

The term coupe is another repesentation of being sporty. And in today's context, the general car consumer's market will associate sporty with more superior technology and more power. And of course with these, it justifies the price difference. However, if the price is unable to show significant difference, you are just paying to buy for looks.

Take for instance

Peugeot 207 (hatchback) SGD$70K+

Peugoet 207CC (Coupe cabriolet) SGD$100K+

Peugeot 207GTI (hothatch) SGD$90K+

A coupe cabriolet doesn't necessary mean performance. Frankly speaking, for a Kia koup, it's more for people who want to look good but cannot afford the really sporty coupe for instance, the BMW630i.

In my disputable opinion, when I pay, I want to pay for something I can see and feel. I don't want to pay or aesthetics. I want something more solid like power and technology. It's like paying between Harley Davidson and BMW motorcycles. I will choose the latter anytime. So the Kia Koup? I will rather buy the cerato sedan if I have to choose between the 2.

IMO it depends on each individual needs ... some go for looks ... some go for performance/comfort etc ...

for 60K+ hw much performance can 1 expect ...

but for look wise i tink it's worth every penny ...

Thats the thing! How can they make the koup insurance cheaper in this case?

Most will go for the price, and balance it with some look, comfort & performance. However, i am surprised that safety is not one of the considerations.

So is this Kia Koup, S$80k or S$60k ?

Based on your price information, the price is indeed attractive, and for that money, the performance on paper is reasonable.

Now if I can only get my hands on the car to feel its handling and see if it's worth $60k

yea i'm also tempted to test drive the car... u can scroll up to see another link from hardware zone where someone already booked the vehicle.

add-ons + vehicle is ard 64k.

is cheap if u compared with the old tuscani, it almost has the similar hp based on the 2l. And not forgetting, aftermarket stuffs for korea cars is still a headache in local market.

as mention 60K+ for 1.6 n 70K+ for 2.0 ...

OT! Eh I heard there's a Hyundai with Turbo gonna be sold legally? Wanna go test that too? :cheeky:

looks neat.

should be a fun drive but definitely not sporty.

I guess it wouldn't be that bad.. My bro's ex Alfa 156(2litre) has 156BHP.. The 2litre Cerato matches that.. But you got only 5 gears for manual and 4 for auto.. But what the hack, for this price it a bargain...

Well, its not really the BHP in a car if you know what I mean. A 1000bhp vehicle can be damn fast but when you are in it driving :giddy:. The build quality, comfort, resale value, everything falls in when choosing a vehicle man :thumb:

Yeah.. I absolutely agree.

So the stretch in the drive from PJ back to Singapore made a difference to you isn't it?

I do agree the 2 door coupes are commonly generalized as sports cars with powerful stuff under the hood and beneath the dashboard. Like what you say, the price is the difference. To compare Korean cars with the contis, it is rather far fetched. The highest variant koup costs $70k and the BMW 630 I costs around $300k. Price with performance definitely not a match. I don’t think most people will mistake a Koup with a 630 I. Simple common sense. You pay for what u get. The main thing is ultimately, everyone wants to feel good about what they drive so as long as they do in view of all the factors like budget and preference, I dun think there is a difference between a happy owner of a Koup and a happy owner of a BMW 630 I. Buying something u like doesn’t mean it must be expensive. ( However, I do agree that nice things are all very expensive. :cheeky: )

In my opinion, a koup is just another option for people who tend to add on accessories to their cars to give it a sportier look. The price difference between it and the 4 door sedan is only $3k and I do think that it is a fair price to pay for nicer rims, sun roof, sportier looks etc. Maybe people should not look at it as a 2 door coupe but more like a sportier variant of the Kia Cerato Forte since there isn’t any enhancement on the engine performance. Just like maybe the Mitsubishi Lancer and the Mitsubishi Lancer Sports Version.

bro.. I think i did not specify. I was trying to compare between the 3 Peugeots. I owned the cheapest Peugeot which carried the same general tech specs as the 207cc. except for the retractable roof. The roof is to me more like an aesthetic that does not increase my 'feel-good' factor. Rather it will be the punch and overall drive quality that makes me feel the price worthwhile.

Like you said, the Koup is another alternative for sportier outlook at a cheap price. But tech specs wise, not much difference. Feel good factor is almost zero. Maybe I get overtaken by a Honda Fit 1.5 driven by some young punk. I'd rather buy a Kia Forte. At least it serves a more practical purpose.

Sunday I got a soccer competition after my Sat night Basketball competition..

Too much to read for jB..

Just like maybe the Mitsubishi Lancer and the Mitsubishi Lancer Sports Version.

Having owned one of those personally, I'd rather top up the difference of $1400 back then for the sports package instead of suffering with the basic model :nono:

And yes I'll either top up for the better model or I'd rather not own any of them. Its that bad IMHO.

Hmm, sometimes when I'm in the SLK for a drive, it feels good at night or after the rain to drive with the hood down :thumb:

Hehe I somehow stopped at the bus stop before Police Academy and brought down the top, unaware that there were many students there looking at me :cheeky: But hey, at least I'm back to the good ol' riding feeling with the wind in my face and hair (before feb 05)

But oh well, being a biker and a driver, I find that many find that the 'feel good' factor is either being in/on a good looking vehicle or a fast looking/sounding/feeling vehicle

What MTL 265? You'd better get your shock absorbers fitted before trying anything bold. How many more weeks? 2 or 3?

The SLK here is an ostentatious car with a 5 speed automatic transmission. Torque converter planetary transmission if I am not wrong. Shouldn't be a clutch automated. I looked like a disgusting gay with that car back in Germany. And when the roof comes down, an unknown insect died near my mouth, I become a bird excretion collector, Freezingly cold on the Autobahn and I predict that you will inhale more road grime without the helmet. Free suntan too. I think you are better off in your GTI. Please, don't buy a SLK cabriolet in Singapore. With your sexy torso, you look like a giggolo in it. But I think you look much better in a Audi TT cabriolet or BMW E64 cabriolet.

we getting so off topic already..

test drove it few days back.. not looking for power, so it seems quite smooth for such a heavy car.. steering is heavier than my Swift.. Comfortable seats and low steering wheel is what i like.. CVT gears makes it smooth even on hard acceleration..

for me i felt a bit cramped at the back as the head room is small.. leg room ok.. only bad thing is that the suspension a bit too soft for a "sports" car..

insurance is at $2.8k for 27yr old w/o NCD..

with such a expensive insurance, i believe it's cat under sports car..

tempted to test drive the MT, but they got no 1.6 MT at Ubi showroom..

P.S. that guy from HWZ got ripped for the GPS set, the SE that served me and my friend told us GPS with reverse cam package should cost less than $1k..

For their first attempt into a sports coupe, Kia did a really good job as compared to Hyundai's first S-coupe.

at $80k, I think it's pricing is way off because it's performance is really below par.

:)

But later generation Tuscani had pretty good chassis.. Only the engine is sh1t..

But plenty of ppl still dun like it cos,well.. It's a Hyundai
