Anyone come across/know if there is any type of steering damper for our Tiger cool: I found that the handling could be better with one. Im considering to change the front wheel brake system. These would be perfect!!

Hi mate,

I already use 17" rims to all of my Tiger. I use Sprint brand (for Tiger years 2005), made in Taiwan and ex.CB 400 rims (for Tiger years 1994). I've changed it to upgrade the width of tyre, especially for rear tyre. So far so good and it feel looks different with another Tiger :). In Indonesia, there is lot of variant of 17" rims for Honda Tiger. Much of all made in Taiwan. The range price is around SGD 190 until SGD 250, depends on brand and model. The product also provide Cast Wheel and Spoke Wheel. I dont know in Singapore if provide the 17" variant rims for Honda Tiger.

Here is my Tiger after use CB 400 rims, sorry if my Tiger is ugly

Hello guys, i need help. My 7months old tiger got problem. The exhaust bike mount nut from the engine block break third time. This time it break inside. Its a male male start that hold the plate together with exhaust. Any ideas what causes it?

Hello. I am new to this bike. I just got it last week (2nd hand latest model 1 year old). So far, my experience with it has been good except for 2 things:

1) high vibration

2) in the morning I always have to use the choke and throttle up slightly to prevent the engine from dying during start up. If it successfully starts, my rpm will stay at about 1k for a few minutes before moving up to 1.5k which is the normal idle rpm.

Anyone can recommend solutions to fine tune these 2 aspects of the bike? Thank you

it is unlikely that this nut/bolt will break, mine has been running fine for the past 2yrs. suspect its a problem when the bikeshop was fixing it up. where did u go fix this btw?

for a 200cc single cylinder aircooled bike, the vibration i will think its normal. thumpers have a knack for vibrating as there is no compensation from other cylinders. If you're wanting to reduce the vibration when its idling, there nothing we can do. If its during riding, you can consider changing to Sinnob sprockets.

by design, this bike needs a choke to start up when its engine is cold, hence its normal. choke it to start and maintain initially around 1.5k WITH the choke, after awhile, u can reduce the choke or remove it totally. What i do is infact, get my engine started first, then as i ride away, i totally remove my choke, since i'm already throttling the bike. sometimes i forget this and at nearby traffic light the engine dies :p

Thnx for the advice bro nbk3. Read through some of the comments here posted about Sinnob. Perhaps its just what I need.

If u do fixup Sinnob sprockets, do check the chainguard for sufficient clearance from the sidewalls of the rear sprocket. if not, it might wear a hole in it.

Hi,

Will it be good if the chain guard is the fully enclosed one to prevent wear/tear from rain/dust? Any such option for our current Tigers? Travelled 12000 km with my bike and changed a regular clutch line. Is this normal life span for clutch line? Used for just one year + two months. Any premium clutch line that is really high quality and how much will that be? Previously, I did not engage my clutch properly and there was a hard cranking noise in the gear box (likely gear teeths hit each other in the box). A bit worry that gear teeths snapped or break.

I'm looking forward to get my first ride after passing my license for many years. Seen the tiger and FZ16, both appeals to me. I've one concern with regards to parts availability for the tiger since the FZ16 is a more common bike. Any advise from you bros?

No worries about Tiger parts. Very similar to Phantoms. Honda and Yamaha brandings are absolutely safe on parts. After all, Tiger Revo has been around for number of years to established market. In fact sometimes I think parts are not always the main issue, but the price of parts. Authorized agent have most parts (such as UM for Pulsar) but are very expensive.

Thanks for your input :) So I can be very safe about the parts for tiger. One more thing I would like to find out, I noticed a price difference between boon siew showroom and one of the motor tiam I visited. Difference is more than $1k. Anybody can explain to me why this is so?

Can't really explain away all the price difference. There can be some factors for the diff such as some just quote bike price (or machine price) + estimated COE; some whole package together w the IU unit and back storage box. I got my Tiger quote at $7650 w COE, in the end cost me slightly above $8k when add in box, new IU unit and insurance. Of course don't get overly rip off in the end. I bought my bike from Ban Hon from AMK Ind. Pk. They carry both FZ and Tiger. You might want to check out. I remember FZ is cheaper than Tiger

Still on the see see look look stage. Any bros can advise me the difference between the Pulsar 200NS and the Tiger? I only know the Pulsar gives better FC but Tiger isn't bad too. Which is a better buy?
