I went to Sin Boon for a quote of a full check-up. Ah Huat, the old man, whom I think is the boss, came up with a long list and estimated bill of abt $1800. Scary man. Also asked abt rear tyre, and he quoted BT01 at $230 & Pilot Road 2 at $250.

Any tips for better tyre deals?

Honda parts prices has gone up very much.

comparing to coolant pump I replaced at 2002 for only just above $100 & recently I got it for $270. see the difference..? sibei eX!!!!!!!

set priority on what need to be done 1st base on ur budget.

Agreed boss. Must prioritize or my budget sure kena blown haywire. But I'm not too sure what are the top things to look out for to check in a 10yr old ST11.

hey Im not ST boss lah... so many out there..~~

for an old ST1100 machine, there r few things that I think r important to look at;

1) 5 coolant hoses & 1 breather hose--> especially the 2 hoses under ur carburetor from thermostat housing to each side of the blocks. a fine hair-line crack(front of the filler cap) of the reservoir tube is good enough to haywired the whole cooling system function. replace it & have it properly flushed & install a thermostat(if not there) for good fuel efficiency. ALWAYS USE distilled water to mix-in into ur coolant.

2) 4 vaccum air tube --> these connecting air tubes r for synchronising throttle valves for peak performance aka 'tunning' by laymen term calling. it usually gets harden/cracked due to ageing. idling will dropped/stalled & funny engine sound/high fuel consumption.

3) wheel & steering cone bearings & front fork oil. ---> if u have extra budget these can be replaced to last u another 5yrs.

4) timing belt need to physically check for any crack & wear for replacement an interval of every 100,000km , not more than 150,000km of life span usage.

the rest r the usual periodic maintenance, I used to replace engine oil & oil filter at an interval of 10-12,000km. this moment very much depends on how much I ride, usually is once a year...!!!!!!!!

still too new to drain it away if its less than 8k... (",) in between just maintain the engine oil level, try not to let drop below the 'L' mark.
