Leo,

I found out in the forum that Acumen Cat3 can be installed at Vector One but, not sure what is the cost and how is the workmanship...

Where and when do you intend to get one? You lead, I follow. Betta be safe than sorry...

Inputs are welcome from everyone...

:)

Before I get it installed, I will have to confirm if atk's model is Cat3 and the cost. I will let you know when I go.

u mean when the either box is opened the alarm goes off? or is it purely by the "vibration" caused by the latches?

coz i dunno got alarm that senses the openin of our pannier box latches, unlike cars... hope can understand what i mean..

my alarm is that, after setting to most sensitive, when i open the latch, and purposely let it go so it snaps back, the alarm triggers.. :sian:

My dear friend, would you like to share the alarm system you've installed? Like brand/model, cost, performance, where to get, etc.

Kobane,

It's strange to see an alarm so sensitive just by opening the box but when seating on bike without rocking, the alarm is not activated. now I know the reason...........

I just got to know from the distributor of Acumen that there is actually sensor at the box. It's so well installed that I didn't notice it is there.

I have answered people who asked about where and how much to installed Acumen Cat3 through PM cos of liability issue. But since I am not going to bad mouth anybody or company, here are the info.

The Acumen Cat3 is really good, I have seen how it works from one ST owner but it comes with a price. It is available from Vector One. $250 including installation and the sensor are sold separately - $45 for each box. If you have a top box and wish to install the sensor, it will cost you another $45. It also comes with 3 years warranty.

Since my concern is not just stolen bike but also the two side boxes, I called Vector 1 and asked if I have already got bike alarm installed, can i buy the sensor for box. Without the purchase of alarm, the sensor charges are different - $60 + $15 for installation of each box and they cannot guarantee if it works cos it may not be compatible. And also if I mix the sensor with other brand of anti-theft alarm, I am afraid anything problem with product, be it alarm or box sensor, neither vendor may want to be liable.

Hope the above info help.

hey jeff,

then that kinda defeat the purpose of the boxes, isnt it?

go out jalan, still need to carry your helmets and bags, and what not around with you...

anyway, what i would do is, whenever i go shoppin malls, i would cover my bike with canvas, that would sort of deter any potential thefts...

of coz, alarm would always be armed :thumb:

Hi ngleo,

Just to put the facts right. My top box and panniers do not have the acumen sensors installed. It's just that I had the original acumen alarm module replaced with a updated version, courtesy from Vector 1.

It is much more sensitive than the previous. When there is a slight vibration, such as opening of the box or even taking my helmet out, the alarm beeps.

The alarm also incorporates a tilt sensor (on side stand, tilt the bike, alarm sounds) and turning on the ignition when alarm is armed, alarm sounds. What more can you ask for. Not forgetting I still have the option of adding the sensors to my top box, panniers and under the seat if I want to. Hope the alarm is not unique in my case.

Still in doubt, go down to Vector 1 and talk to them and I am very sure they won't mind even if you don't patronised. Ask for the Cat 1, you will be impressed.

As a matter of fact, I am quite satisfied with the product and the level of service rendered by Vector 1 so far.

Quit Quitting !!

Thanks for the info. I spoke to Vector One and they remembered who you are. They are honest to tell me that you didn't install the sensor and suggest that I install only Cat3 first and see how it works.

I am sure Cat 1 is impressive but too expensive.

You are right, service rendered from Vector One is great and I am happy with product.
