Sorry white the place that you mention does not really know how to go cos seldom go CBD area.

We make it easy that we meet at kallang kfc which most of us know how to get there.

not too difficult to locate this place - LC Food Court. was former Tg Katong Sec Sch tuck shop, now renovated to hostel. our ST1100 gang can be easily sighted, not difficult to missed along Tg Katong Road, we r just opposite 'Bescomb road'.

has been our firmed hang out place since early last year when our ST1100 community grew. :thumb:

see u soon.

guys,

tml I'll be replacing 2 inner coolant hose, tunning(to factory pre-set) & synchronise carburettor for a veteran member 97' ST1100.

the whole process will enable u to learn how to inspect the condition & replace of coolant hoses & intake manifolds, & also how to master the art of carburettor synchronising(for carb sychn maniacs..!). U'll also see where r the other important components located.

venue is his place at NE, time should be around 2-5pm but will only confirm later part tonite, anyone interested to see how it's done please drop me a PM with ur contact number, I'll sms u the exact location & time.

his 98' ST1100 is perfectly done within 2hrs...

his left cycliner hose(2&4 cycliner) was badly deteriorated, coolant leaked the moment my screwdriver touched on it, right cylinder coolant hose(1&3) was puffered around the clip, may burst anytime if temperatur surge again.

his carburettor air/fuel mixture was too rich, got it reset back to factory setting & synchronised.

as per his feedback....... :thumb: whole cost only less than $22.00

will show the picture once it's ready.

Sounds like an impressive job done.

My is ST1100Y. Check with manual and it is recommended to change the coolant mixture every 38400km or every two years. Is there a way to check? And how do I know if it is neccessary for me to change my coolant hose.

I am kind of concern cos I might be going for tour at end of next month.

hi ngleo,

there's no way to check condition of the 2 inner hose beneath the carburettor unless it's stripped, alternately u can try to sniff around engine cover area for coolant smell when ur engine is running at operating temperature. the outside 2 radiator hose can be inspected easily.

actually it's not too difficult to replace coolant urself in less than an hour provided ur engine is cool.

all u need r:

- 2 x 500ml of pure coolant(ethelyn glycol)

- 3 x 1.5ltrs of distilled water.

- medium size water funnel.

Steps:

1. bike facing u, remove coolant cap on left side beneath throttle(this is a short cut process u need not to remove any fairings).

2. bike facing u, right side of facing u just above belly pan u can find a drain plug(white color), gently loosen it to allow used coolant to drain out(more turn out will flow faster, just make sure dont turn it out otherwise u must dismental fairings to tighten it back).

3. after used coolant drained, gently tighten back drain plug & top it up generously with distilled water.

4. started & rev up engine to dilute the used coolant with distilled water for about a minute, repeat this process at least twice.

5. lastly top it up with fresh coolant, fill up the gap with distilled water. use ur finger to feel it's topped if u cant see it & u r ready to ride.

hope it helps.

should u encounter any plms with above steps just let me know.

coolant replacement interval is same with final drive shaft gear oil, BUT rear wheel shouldnt be spinned for the last 3hrs before u drain the used gear oil out.

pair this task to east the work.

Hi Guys,

I was offered $13.5K for a FT (2001/May) plate ST11, by my bike agent. Is this a good buy or too exp? Please note that insurance and road tax are not inclusive. It will sum up to 14+K OTR.

Advice needed. Thanks.

2) Petrol Consumption: 490km before going into about 50km reserve, Full Tank: 40 ringgit.

3) Petrol Tank Capacity: 28Litres (Good for JB Top Up)

Can ST really go 490km as mention by hsp_89....? well mine just took me around 350km.. does this mean there's something wrong with my bike? do i need to change or modify anything on the bike to make that distance..?? any advise available..???

MAybe the fuel data is taken from those standard ST data.I dont really believe it can go that far.Riding habits and the bike condition play a factor.

hsp_89,

rajeh_bp,

as per cbkooky got to base on bike's condition & owners riding habit.

my ST1100 consumed:

- 22-24km/ltr when I'm on NSHW at an average speed of 90-100km/hr.

- 22.5-23km/ltr @ 100-120km/hr

in Sgp road with 70% on expressways is about 20-21km/ltr.

journey got to be well planned & miser acceleration. :D

1. Is there any way we could save petrol? is there any device in market that we could install to save fuel? or maybe change the fuel cable or something?

2. Recently cats been sitting on my bike everyday. How to chase them away?how to keep them away form my bike?

Thanks guys...

Simon,

Is 1 liter for 17km for city riding common? I also notice that a full tank of fuel used on Singapore expressway 70% of the time last longer.
