Good Sunday morning to all,

Does anyone know where to get the locks for our ST's sidebox repaired or replaced? Mine is now crooked as somebody tried to pry them open. First time in my 5 years of ownership, rather upset about it.

I read somewhere in the past that the whole box got to be replaced once that happens, hope that's not the case.

Any feedback or places to recommend to get it done?

Thank you all.

Sorry to hear about your lousy experience. Mine was plied open once at the latch near pillion's foot rest but was not crooked and all that is needed it bend it back. Luckily the whole box was still intact or else will really have to buy a new box. I was told it cost about $800 per piece. I have installed alarm since then.

Last year I got my latch replaced (but not due to attempted theft) at Gopa, can't remember how much he charged me but it is something like $30. The good thing I like is that he changed the latch but my original key can still use to open it. e.g. no different key needed for new latch and ignition key.

Got it installed not too long ago and I am happy with it and it truly gives me a piece of mind.

I didn't installed the box sensor option but I still feel save enough with the Cat3. When box is opened with alarm activated, it gives a warning sound. Though the alarm does not go off as demonstrates by atk, I feel that it is enough to deter any would be burglar. The sensor can be tilt at angle to increase sensitivity.

Leo,

What do you mean by "Though the alarm does not go off"?

Do you mean the alarm continue to give out the warning sound upon activated? Wouldn't that drain the battery?

There is a 'beep' sound whenever I opened the box or whenever I shake the bike lightly when the alarm is armed, but it doesn't gives out continuous alarm after few second if box remain open like the demonstration given by atk. Which I find it strange cos it is the same brand of alarm we are using. I will ask atk whenever I have the chance. I was assured by alarm distributor that it doesn't drain the battery.

Ya, I did PM the member before.

I am scouting for a reasonable one but, have not made up my mind and still open to suggestion.

I guess it is either Acumen Cat3 ($ ex), the one you've suggested ($ mid), cheetah ($ lo) or any brand that is good.

Anybody, care to share your experience in alarm system?

Thanks,

:)

the road name is Kitchener Road, his shop is next to mutton soup stall after right turn at Jln Besar junction, he's the only lock smith there, not easy to be missed

This Lock smith can also "master" all the 4 lock to 1 single key which is your ignition key

Sorry to disappoint you but I am not a lady. CAT is just nickname.

Anyone knows of a good bike in the market to pick up? Trying to see if I can find a good second hand bike preferably less than 5 years old. ABS and CBS preferable. Otherwise might have to buy a new STX. Read somewhere that the UK police is having problems with the bike when riding at high speeds. Wonder if any STX riders out there have any feedback.

pls la the accident is 1 police man. and don push the blame to the equipment. thing is STX steering feels lighter at higher speeds but are u travelling at 200+ all the time?

The CBS/TCS?ABS model is limited. its like 4 that i know. not sure got more that that. i rode it b4.
