Hello guys my cbr400 right side fairing has a crack due to some MF disturd and dropped my bike... when to 2 shop to ask for quote on respray of the cracked fairing. Shop 1 quoted me $180 which i find it quite ex. Shop 2 quoted me $100 :thumb: but he say not comfirm same colour :faint: So after some consideration i decided to diy and change some design.

Today i brought a 500ml of putty for just $5.50 and 2 piece of sandpaper $1 together $6.50 only so cheap FYI shop quoted me $30-40 to putty back the fairing :dot:

ok now i'm stuck :sian: becuase i dont know what sticker to paste on my fairing :( Initially i planned to paste 3M carbon fiber sticker and paste a red colour "carrera" sticker as my bike theme is carrera sunglasses but then my friend tell me not nice :faint: So i hope you guys can suggest to me what to paste or do to the side fairing. please help thx in advance

Well, i would first remove the fairing, clean the cracks first and around them. Then add the putty to slowly fill in the cracks. Don't fill in too much later when you sand the putty down, you would cry. Literally. Its not easy to sand down a large amount of putty unless you have an orbital or disc sander.

After you have sanded it down, lightly sand the whole fairing to remove some part of the laquer and paint. Use a very high grit sandpaper so as not to prevent too much removal of the paint. Then you can use primer to set the base. Then use white as a base coat. Then slowly build up with the colour you want. Remember you want many light coats as possible rather than less heavy coats to give it a more even finish.

Lastly, use spray lacquer give it that new bike shine. I would take a few days for this to complete to make sure all the coats dry evenly.

But, let me warn you first i have never done this before. In the event i would do this, i would do it the way how i have just described to you. That is the way i was taught in D&T many many years back and i use this method for holes/cracks in wooden panels, walls and even my computer casings if need be. The only thing is that i have never done it on bike fairings before.

Thank you crazydj but i didn't want to respray my fairing.yea tonychan i'm thinking of pasting sticker also cause the fairing is still very nice except the crack,a bit of scratches and a bits of "pimple scar". The scratches i believe can be covered by sticker but the "pimple scar" ar i dunno liao That's why initially i planned to paste carbon fiber sticker. Any more ideas on what sticker and design to paste to cover all the scratches and holes?
