freeze ... it's possible but the procedure is taxing ... you'll need about few weeks of application and documentations submission plus you have to put in 50% deposit for the whole costs.

In order to get into Vietnam by bike, you need to engage a Vietnamese tour operator who does your entry application, per entry cost is US$350 irregardless the number of bikes coming in. The operator will ask for 50% downpayment upon successful applications.

Expensive you say? Wait till you hear the price of bringing your bike into China.

Anyway, I will be meeting the Vietnamese tour operator who is coming down to Singapore on the 17th. If you like, you can meet him and ask all the questions needed for bringing in bike into Vietnam. :sian:

If you book your accomodation through him, he will add that to the costs as well

i heard there is a difference in price for big bikes and small bikes? is that true?

Never heard of such rulings ... but I met with the operator earlier today and he mentioned that the ministry has imposed mandatory guide for all foreign motorcycles entering Vietnam ... which means more costs.

Hi you guy. I'm a rider from Vietnam, I love motorcycle 2. I have been riding sometime in Laos, Cambodia, and North of Thai land.

Vietnam is a nice place to ride especially the North-west mountain area. You'd better forget about bringing your own bike If you wanna ride in here, The paper works go so complicated and cost money....

Let's take a flight to Hanoi then rent a bike in there. From there you could do a 5,6 or 7 days ride around the beautiful North-west mountain until the China border.

In Hanoi you could rent some kinds of bike as the 250cc,400cc Honda or Suzuki motocross, Honda CB 400 Superfour. The price is around from 30 to 50usd/day not included gasoline. If you want something cheaper you can rent the smaller bikes as the russian minsk 125cc or the Honda moped 125cc.The price is around 10usd/day.

Hope you guy will have a nice ride in Vietnam.

Here are some picture of my motorcycle club in Hanoi.

Been there recently...bikers speed limits are like 40kph and cars are 60kph :)

Extreme right lanes are for bikes as well as cars on the left.

Do exercise extreme caution when doing a turn at a junction, there are not much traffic lights available.
