Hmmm I was looking at firms like NOL mercator and rickmers that benefitted from the BDI surge.. Think there's more potential upside ?

rickmers is good for solid dividends, around 11% div yield. That why i buy this one and will buy below $1.10. Price unlikely to go up above $1.20 soon tho

NOL and merc far more risky. I do like the sector of shipping/offshore. I forsee some M&A in the next 6 month. I am looking as swiber, swissco and CH offshore, smaller players that MAY be bought up.

I have not really studied mercator, might be takeover target too. NOL may make a bid for Hapag Loyd and if it is too ex then NOL will drop hard.

hmmm they made an offer of 7b for Hapag. I second your thoughts on rickmers.

I'm entering alittle into cdl Hos trust as well, with an increase in room rates and upcoming events in singapore, I'm alittle bullish on this counter. What's your take on that?

Yeah, also ship leasing, about 10%. I believe also US$. Not so sure about diff. I did read up on it a while ago and I decided on Rickmers. 10 0r 11% is actually still not that much. In Europe similar trusts are sold with 13 to 14% yield but min 50K euro. That's why rickmers bring the trust to asia. They started @ 7%. Sure win for them. Anyway, here in sg not much choice, FD only 1% now

Not so keen on hos trust. Tho CIMB just put an outperform on it at 2.38 target. Reason is that you might be close to the peak. biz travel may slow down a lot if US/Europe slow down and india/china tourist will slow if inflation reamins high (food more imp than travel). Govt also planning to build a LOT of hotels to ease shortage. I prefer shipping lease with long leases.

Infrastructure fund may be interesting. Think one one in sg, macquary (sp?). haven't study it yet. toll roads and airports in asia. sounds cool.

Anyway, i was looking at the CDL hospitality trust due to the fact that room occupancy's not dropping but the rates have already increassed 30ish%. And also in anticipation of the upcoming F1 and GSS surge in occupancy. I chose CDL coz it has the biggest exposure to the hotels out there.

ya, exactly my point so that news is already priced in. one year ago all the analyst where saying property prices keep on increasing in 08/09. Now some say it will drop up to 40% and property counters have come of around 50%. Things never keep going up by 30%, there will be consoldation. Sure, govt will prob meet target for tourist arrival but not sure if it will be big spending tourist. Anyway, just my 2 cts.

today market very very strong. Volume 2.8 B$. Not seen in a long time. Must watch the volume next week. If can go up on stong volume than that would be a good sign

Not anymore dude.

This newly issued DBS pref shares, same day out same day close, didnt have chance to subscribe. minimum $250k per sub.

anyway secondary market trading 104 now...

I managed to get $100k for the first issue paying 6% dividends.

still holding until now. haha

So this time go for OCBC 5.1% dividend. pretty ok lah.

so many times oversub, dont know can get how much maybe 10%? hahah....

LOL... Me too didn't get any... but i calculated the DBS prefshares YTM even at 104 it's still higher than ocbc's yield... wat's your take on the 1% increase of the rrr?

what a mess! Blood on the streets. TSMC reported 15% higher sales for may compared to last year may. Strong demand for mobile in Asia. I wouldn't touch CSM so soon but assembly & test co may be a good buy. I put globaltest (tester)& MIT (hardware) on my radar for possible investment.

the "advantage" of the OCBC one is that it will be exchange tradeed and open to retail so it is more "flexible" than the DBS one (currently 105)

Shruggs.. Just a matter of transperancy. OTC or exchange traded as long as it's a good deal everyone snatch.. haha.. I'm getting into SPC and KS energy. Some talks on M&A activity involving SPC, good dividend play too..

Good time to get into the market today.. open gap down 2%.. wonder how many contra players die today..
