it all boils down to what the new GM share price will be at opening.

and whether more people value it to be higher.

the likelihood is somewhat high that it can go up on relisting becos market tend to feel that a "phoenix" company should be out of the woods and should improve from there.

however, there is no reason for the share price fundamentally to shoot up, otherwise.

this cannot be simplistically referenced to Citibank.

Actually GM is already relisted.

Currently at USD1.25. I saw it last week at 1.60+.

Was taken by surprise actually, since I expected them to be out of action for a month or two while they restructured.

http://sg.finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=GMGMQ.PK&t=5d&l=off&z=l&q=l&c=

I understand that we can't simply reference it with Citibank due to the different nature of their industry/business. I'm thinking that a lot will depend on how new Fed regs work, and the new GM bosses streamlining their business and trimming fat.

But as you said... a relisted stock emerging at a low price will always have a short "bloom" period that ppl can ride on. I was thinking of that exactly. I hesitated on LVS when it was 1+ and sucked thumb.

The question is when to pull on the "Eject" handle before it plateaus, or the hype dies out.

Corrections, firstly, that is not the new GM.

That is the old GM trading on the OTC market commonly known as pinksheets.

After filing for bankruptcy and delisting , stocks can still continue trading on "pinksheets" over the counter.

Secondly, regarding the citigroup referencing , thats not what i mean.

very simply put, citi is still citi. the new GM is no longer GM, it's a whole new company altogether.

see it this way, if you have a long relationship with a girl and it turns bad, you may still love her becos it's still the same girl. she may still go back to before.

compared to you had a long relationship with a girl and it turn bad, she leaves you, then her twin sister appears, you must not treat her as your old GF but as a totally new person ever though they look alike.

hehehheh, hope you understand what i mean....

Actually my post wasnt directed to anyone.

it is a general remark.

if you scroll back this thread you will realise that i made that same remark quite a few times. (becos it is one of my own personal rules)

if i'm directing a reply at you i will quote you or reply you directly.

kindly do not misunderstand.

anyway, all forums are full of loudmouths saying this and that. the diff is some loudmouths (like myself) always put our money where our mouths are.

we back up what we say with conviction and real stakes.

so what have you done lately. care to share with the folks here?

well, i came here to read the sentiments of fellow biker investors.

i trade crude wti on nymex for a living.

thats my rice bowl.

i watch the DJIA, S&Ps, forex and news and basically anything that can affect oil price 24/7.

its always interesting to listen another's opinion.

boasting abt making 6 figures in 45mins does jack for me.

even though my performance is based entirely on my pnL.

im only here to share and learn.

im certain everyone has something to contribute, a learning experience not only happens when u make money.

See. This is turning out well. I know now that this is not the restructured GM yet, thanks to your info. Guess I'll sit back and wait for the new GM to emerge.

Isn't it better when we share info and discuss, rather than tell each other to put our money where our mouth is and make profit declarations? :p :P

Interesting email that I chanced upon a few days back.

Interesting perspective to the credit crisis!

The time is now. In a small coastal town in USA , holiday season is in full swing, but it is raining so there is not too much business happening. Everyone is heavily in debt.

Luckily, a rich Russian tourist arrives in the foyer of the small local hotel. He asks for a room and puts a Euro100 note on the reception counter, takes a key and goes to inspect the room located up the stairs on the third floor.

The hotel owner takes the banknote in hurry and rushes to his meat supplier to whom he owes E100.

The butcher takes the money and races to his wholesale supplier to pay his debt.

The wholesaler rushes to the farmer to pay E100 for pigs he purchased some time ago.

The farmer gives the E100 note to a local prostitute who gave him her services on credit.

The prostitute goes quickly to the hotel, as she owed the hotel for her hourly room use to entertain clients.

At that moment, the rich Russian is coming down to reception and informs the hotel owner that the proposed room is unsatisfactory and takes his E100 back and departs.

There was no profit or income.

But everyone no longer has any debt and the small townspeople look optimistically towards their future.

COULD THIS BE THE SOLUTION TO THE Global Financial Crisis?

Or, is there a catch here?

What do you all think? ;)

fully agreed.

learning experience is in fact lesser when one makes money, much more usually when one loses money. but learning experience is at its greatest and most real when money is involved. thats what i'm advocating.

not directing it at anyone, my general remark.

WTI at $71, whats your take?

My ricebowl is slightly different heh

I'm a cigar aficionado.

if want to taste cigars, look for me.

share info and discuss is what I've been doing all this while.

I think you know that.

making profit (and loss) declaration just provides more conviction.

i've been on the sell side for quite a while, taking profits.

I might buy another property.

Maybe commercial like a shophouse.

Keeping a lookout, taking it very slowly.

yes, thats so true, learning experience is at its greatest when money is involved.

paper trades are never the same as the real deal.

this is because we are not only challenging the mkt but ourselves.

sometimes that is the biggest challenge, not to get emotional.

basically, fear and greed are catalyst for our decisions and actions.

for the technical ppl, yesterday was the 8th day of consolidation for wti.

whether 72-74 range is the new support or resistance level, its anybody's guess.

on the fundamental side, its started to break co-relation with the USD/Euro.

generally, USD goes up, crude comes down.

Summer in the US, has not helped dramatically with the overbuilt of supply on and offshore. Seasonal demand for gasoline during this period has dropped compared to previous years.

its not making much sense, supply is at a peak but demand is still low.

but wti has continued to rise.

CFTC has noticed a rise of non commerical net long futures positions on contracts in recent weeks, which may explain this baby bull run.

So, going short once these positions are closed may be the thing to do.

If oil corrects back down to the 60 mark, this might boost liquidity and interest in equities and commodities, provided they remain at current levels.

nobody expected it to hit 70, 6 wks ago, just like when it hit 140 per barrel last year. but if it continues to go on a upswing, its not going to help the recession.

is this Russian, Roman himself?

I think its a very simplified picture of the whole issue.

Somebody has to go give everyone an early Xmas by playing Santa.

Other then the US, I doubt any of the other superpowers will.

But how more much bonds or treasury bills can they afford without adverse effect on the USD?

Just bot some Singtel at $2.86

targetting $3 by Aug.

M1 is doing well.

Started looking at properties slowly but definitely not getting in yet.

i expect another overall $10 - 20% drop as i believe the buying strength is unsustainable at current asking prices.
