Aiyo... When you sell a stock, there's only 2 scenarios.

 

1 - stock price continue go up

2 - stock price plummnet

 

If the 2nd scenario did come true, that means u manage to catch the high.. But realistically, how often do we manage to catch high?? Got profit means u're a winner already

Yup, totally agree... If you cringe at "losses" just because you didn't sell high enough, then stocks might not be for you... When my colleague comes and tell me "aiyohhhhhh... lost $2k today.... sold off too early..." I feel like giving that fella a good whack across his face!

The majors are

EUR/USD

GBP/USD

USD/JPY

USD/CHF

USD/AUD

USD/CAD

 

Be careful with Forex. U can lose a lot of $$ with just a few pips moving the wrong way. When you tio margin call, that's it. All gone.

Ask him not to. unless he is willing to lose fair amounts of money as tuition fees.

 

all these talks and courses can only prepare you so much .

not for the real thing. when the losses you see are you own money, most people cannot think striaght anymore. haha

I did it actively from 2004 - 2006. I didnt just start as a rookie. Prior to that I already have good understanding and 18 yrs of market experience. Finally decided to call it a day after making only about $55k to $60k cumulatively from 2004 to 2006.

bloody waste of my time and too many sleepless nites watching the markets

there is usually 2 sides to the coin.

most ppl tend to make losses than gains over the long run.

 

if it was profitable enough, do u think they will still be doing their day jobs?

2 clicks of the mouse, u would have made enough for the month with no deadlines, no bosses to answer to and no colleagues to supervise, why not?

 

the approach should be to recognise if u are speculating, trading or gambling.

 

be realistic.

unless ure george soros, 50k capital is unlikely to yield 100% returns by Xmas.

 

commodities, with the exception of gold, are consumption assets,

they do not yield a future stream of revenue. their

valuation should theoretically be tied more closely with current,

rather than expectation of future conditions. which means, u need to a close eye on it, not a at of the check and see kind of thing.

 

u can also consider the equity market because in contrast, equity markets are shaped by discounted expectations of future earnings streams.

longer run expectations of futures earnings will tend to rise as we near the bottom of the economic cycle.

 

equity markets tend to pick up ahead of the bottom of the economic cycle.

as most would think, and hope, we may be at the bottom of the current cycle. jump on the bandwagon before it leaves?

 

another option would be commodity futures.

there has been a rise in commodity futures contracts compared to interest rate instruments.

 

even though, equities see futures contracts rise rapidly only to fall behind commodities in the recent period.

 

currencies lag behind other markets in number of futures traded.

 

so u may like to take these issues into consideration before taking yr next step. Best of luck and let us know how u fare.

Then got brainwashed by "tips" and margined/contra'ed her way into bad debt.

Stock prices went the wrong way, and T+5 came. Oops.

In the end, had to borrow from GE Money to pay off a bad trade.

Until liquidity starts drying up, the market will remain quite bolstered.

Especially here in Asia. but dont get caught going too long. always good to take profits along the way.

 

Ultimately , we make money from our jobs not from trading the markets.

even though some of our jobs involve trading the market.
