Do you guys play purely stocks, or do you park investments in bonds, funds as well?

 

Don't place all your eggs in one mistake or Put all your eggs into one basket and watch that basket well?

 

And pardon me for always asking so many questions, books quench a desire for answers, but learning from experienced people fulfills a need of understanding.

I hold stocks and bonds mainly. funds only if it allowed entry into areas which I cannot efficiently get into.

I also did FX spots forwards and options but too much gambling involved so i stopped.

I also hold properties as investments.

I raise capital for properties by working hard and saving.

by not buying what i cant afford.

by not taking a loan on expenses,... ie cars and bikes

 

I bought my first private property in 1999, bot my second one in 2005.

swap the first one for a landed house in 2008 and top up $300k cash for construction.

then i sold the second one in 2half 2007 and in 2010 bot a bigger one.

 

all this time , I continued to work and save.

 

Everything was managed such that I will be able to continue life if I had lost my job.

God was kind to me.

 

Just becos many people made money in properties the last 2 years doesnt mean that it will always happen that way.

If you dont have the base nor the cashflow, dont mess with properties, or it will mess with you.

 

Go slow, gain your knowledge, find your forte, stay real, be true to what you stand for.

haha, i'm luckier.

 

Not to worry too much on Capitaland and DBS, still good companies overall.

 

I think, it's time to scale down a bit. crystalise some profits and take a break.

dont think that the STI can go anywhere too high from here anyway

Capitaland , i'm looking to buy 10 lots at $3.50....

 

so I wait..

 

The chances of making a wrong move is much higher than making a right move now compared to a year ago.

 

Quite difficult to invest nowadays.

Risk factor much higher

I still have a fair amount of cash which I have not invested as I didnt want to have concentrated holdings and also to allow me to take advantage of any situation should it happen. eg. property

SAP just got sued and won by oracle, causing a some damage to their stock prices....

what a false blow out in recent times, just like that, dow back into the 10k, down -145 points in early trading.

yes, after a couple of weeks of intra-day swings, when it finally breaks out, quite tough to determine if it will be doing a new range/direction.

 

anywayz, holiday season is here, hope n desire for a greater 2011 guys. :)
