Keep some cash for stocks if there is any further pull back of the sti to the 2000-2500 region. This could provide a very rare chance to buy financial /oil & gas/Reits/Telecom stocks for a song. But this is IF it happens.

i've set aside for that already.

Trading alert: watch out for sell-downs amidst a jittery market as the days lead up to this friday. Whenever Botak Ben talks, nothing good happens in the market. But this friday warrants special attention as the focus might be the expected QE3.

there areworries of continued short selling next week in europe once the ban is lifted.

無風不起浪, everyone remembers Lehman's collapse.. But I rmb vividly the day of Bear Stern's collapse, there was already market talks of Lehman's impending demise.

Now they ban short selling, it's as good as tellng people look i know there's a problem but i'm not going to let u short sell.. So much for free market. End up, no short sellers but the real sellers come out.. Rather they didn't ban in the first place..

The downside prevails with US and Europe not out of the woods. US markets looks to be pricing in QE3 or any other stimulas package that Botak Ben will annnounce this friday. If he doesn't, market will start selling. If he does, market might still sell(sell on news). The need for QE3 just speaks the strength of the US economy. I would technically say the STI is still heading towards 2600 with some dead-cat bounce in-between, unless the economy significantly improves with better data to support it.

I would be focusing on hedging my open positions with some warrants or closing some positions. Would be intensifying my intraday trades to capitalise on the market volatility leading up to friday.

Good luck everyone!!!!!!!

I can't see anything from the charts, so didn't buy... else have to kiss you? hahaha

Day trade?

Sometimes it best not to rely too much on charts unless you are looking at big caps. For smaller stocks, best to observe what the buyers and sellers are doing. If you long, you must learn to identify the way queues are placed and the way they are buying and vice-versa if you are shorting.

I saw Qingmei in top vol at the start of trading and decided to day-trade it because its declared a 2 cent dividend subjected to shareholder's approval at the next AGM, and the stock has not rised that much yet. let me share with you how i traded this:

1) Qingmei was wack up to 0.199 in the first few minutes. there it seems like it was a 'resistance'

2) Looked at the time & sales and realised it was small traders that were wacking it up

3) stock came back down to 0.197 0.198

4) I threw down some shares to see who was buying

5) Morgan stanley was buying some

6) Stock was sold down to 0.194 by smaller traders/investors as the amount thrown down was quite small

7) Somehow, the buyers for 0.194 and 0.195 just keep coming

8) I join in the buying and observed the way queues are placed, seems like they were fooling traders that anything above 0.20 was a 'resistance', volume was also building with increased buying amounts

9) Contra it off at end day

10) Went geylang with gf to eat frog leg porridge to celebrate

And finally...go home watch US markets and do 'homework' till now.

Good night all and vote wisely tmr!

Hmm... As retail traders, I don't have access to the trading records at intraday level and certaintly not the micro-view of the order queues. That alone contributes to the disadvantages of retail trading. Thus far, I've only price action to rely on.

Nevertheless, thank you for explaining the decision process. To me it's more valuabe than the 10+% potential profit if I had brought Qingyang. I think some of the analogy can be applied to longer term trades too.

The way buying and selling of orders are placed, plays a part in knowing the momentum flow of the stock. Useful for traders, for investors better to rely on FA/TA.
