Recently I've spotted this car along Dunearn road. To my suprise number plate was 3 letters only "TBJ" without any digits. I thought custom plates are not practices in S'pore but obviously they are allowed for cars. My first guess was that maybe this car is from our neighbour country, but I checked on EDDIE's web site and this comes out to be a valid number plate.

So does any one know where to apply and who is the last in the queue for non-numeric number plates and if its allowed for bikes as well. I've already got few nice ideas for my new number plate :hungry: :hungry:

Actually embassy cars number plate ends with 'CD', one letter in the beginning then upto 4 digits and last two letters are always CD. Have seen quite a number of those, one car owner staying close to my estate. BTW, embassy cars are exempted from 140% import tax and COE.

Chances are this car is 99% foreign registered. I couldn't trace the car plate number from LTA.. you sure EDDIES said it's valid?

I've also first thing checked with LTA but it was stated as invalid number. However when I've tried EDDIE's yesterday evening for outstanding offences it stated that no offences. Usually if number plate is not valid it would reject.

Strangely enough today I'm getting this message: BizRule: SPF-PTD-EDDIES-II-SHRD-Vldt, line 515, : java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: ""

I was able to check for the first time too, but subsequent attempts encountered the same error as you did, including tries using other 3 letter plates. I have a list of license plate registrations somewhere.. maybe I'll look for it later.

Red plates are for OPC vehicles.

Half blue and half yellow plates with the beginning letter of "RU" is for the Honda car sharing programme.

There is another 2-color plate in singapore. Should be either half red and half yellow or half red and half blue with the lettering beginning with "RU". Those are meant for offshore cars e.g cars that are in Pulau Ubin or Sentosa, meaning they cannot be driven on the mainland. Driving centres also have these kind of plates. Those cars with these plates are cars that are purely used for circuit training purposes and not meant for public roads.

The rest are government related plates. For example our president. His car has no number plate. Only the Istana logo printed on a red background. The rest of the number plates are differentiated by the letterings and not color.

Namely:

*****MID - Military vehicle

*****MID with Stars - Military vehicle for General status officer

QX****X - Police vehicle

QY****X - Stat board vehicle

S** - High ranking minister vehicle

SJ** - Singapore Judges vehicle

S****CD - embassy vehicle

SZA****X - rental vehicle

SHA****X, SHB****X - Taxi

TBJ belongs to the JB king or his relatives. Just like TMJ(tengku Muda johor) plate, the king's son(the one who looks like angmoh). That car is a cadillac sts which is not available in SGP or MY.

They use the bus lane and do not have to produce passport at our customs. In fact they do not even stop at the immigration.

Johor's royal family enjoys special status with the Singapore Govt...like every yr chinese new yr and hari raya, singapore's leaders will go to his palace to visit.. i think it's because long time ago when raffles founded singapore, he recognised the johor sultanate as the rightful rulers of singapore and paid an annual lease to him to use singapore..

So historically we are under johor, though now it is more of a symbollic representation..respect lah
