electrical problems will start to surface normally after 4-5years (you can tell from the de-coloration of the stock wiring and connectors),

mechanical problems depends on usage. (rubber hoses normally will start to harden after ard 3 years when exposed to the engine heat - hoses include your fuel line, coolant hoses, vacuum hoses...)

you can normally start to look out when your bike celebrates its 4th birthday.

Tks for the info man! Anyway, my bike's celebrating its 3rd birthday in May 08.

Perhaps u can enlighten me as to wad i shld look into now so as to not clash all servicing at one go when it comes to the 4th birthday. Intending to keep this bike for a very long time!

Tks mate!

i'm not a mechanic.. just happen to spend too much time in a bikeshop (with the boss explaining what's being done on the bike) and reads service manuals for past time.. :cheeky:

agree that it's quite essential to know abit more about the bike when we travel overseas... :thumb:

hahahaha.. :thumb: to kaieiru's experience and knowledge in this field.

have you done the standard servicings? such as

1.valve clearance, timing chain and tensioner

2.bearing changes (wheel and steering cone)

3.brake and clutch fluid

4.coolant

after which you can start checking

1.coolant hoses and radiator cap (rubber seal)

2.fuel line

3.water pump (for any leaks)

4.clutch slave pump (for for leaks)

think if you just conscientiously check and replace any faulty parts, the bike will remain in a very good condition for a very long time... :thumb: since the busa engine is quite bulletproof

There's no replacement for displacement except for a blower

Sure, things that he did for me without telling him to do so includes;

2. Tape up the 'weights' on the rims because he knew I'm going Penang

I'm the type who dun mind paying slightly more for someone who is willing to use his heart on my machine. :thumb:

This is what happens to me 2 weeks ago. My "weights" flew off somewhere between Terengganu and Genting Highlands. Just got new balancing last Saturday but left my bike on the workshop over the weekend due to rain.

oh ya, does anyone noes where I can get a switch fixed onto my bike to turn off and on my headlights? Coz im riding a K5 which does allow me to switch on or off the lights..

the switch can be done with abt 1-1.5m of wire and a switch total cost maybe abt $3-$4

very straight forward.

cheers

hihi

except for valve clearance, timing chain and tensioner, i've done the rest.

will start checking on the hoses, water pump etc soon

I can say tat i do conscientiously check and replace faulty parts, juz that i do not have enuff knowledge to noe wad further checks i need to be aware of.

E reason why i'm asking is because i wanna stagger out the cost of repairs. :cheeky:

Thanks anyway bro!!

tks for the info dude!

jus tat i do not have adequate knowledge to D.I.Y

:cheeky:

well, the thing about DIY knowledge, is that it comes only with doing it yourself.. probably with some others who knows what they are doing..

Erm, Fabian is still alive and well, tearing up almost everyone on the tracks on his K7 Gixxer thousand. Its his brother that passed away during the race.

Address is Tampines Industrial Park, just beside Dirt Wheels. :cheeky: Will get you the address the next time I head down.
