Not only the cost of the tires that I'm worried of if I were to hit the tracks, the cost of the bike itself too.... :cheeky: ... I cherish my ride very much.... . As for me, watching is fun enough.

seriously if cost is so much of an issue and watching is just as fun, why buy to ride.. juz watch ppl ride can le mah.. FREE one... :cheeky: :p

Avon Vipersport. Compound is similar to Bridgestone BT-014 or Pirelli Diablo (not corsa).

I clock 20,000km a year.... On my scooter! My Ninja is one year old now, clocked 17000km. On its 3rd rear tyre now. My front brake pads also gone at 17000km, costs $250 to change... :giddy:

wow.. Avon tires... where did u get em?

Anyone heard of this tyres??

The long-lasting, all-weather, high performance sports touring tyre.

  • Incorporates the very latest bike tyre technology 'Reactive Footprint'. The tyres contact patch changes size and shape depending on lean angle - for the life of the tyre
  • Unique construction means excellent performance combined with very long life
  • 'Super-Rich Silica' rubber compound gives superb wet road grip
  • Front tread pattern optimised for shorter stopping distances in the wet
  • Excellent stability and handling whatever the lean angle

The Storm-ST replaces Avon's Azaro-ST and builds on its predecessor's talents. Employing what's called 'Reactive Footprint' (RF) technology, the Storm-ST produces a footprint that changes size and shape depending on the bike's lean angle, growing in size the further over the bike goes. It means you get high grip through the corners yet in a straight line have a footprint which increases the Storm-STs lifespan. Avon's RF Technology is a quantum leap in technology from the dual compound tread, and will provide unparalleled evenness in wear patterns.

The wet weather performance of the Storm-ST is outstanding, thanks in part to the tyre's Super-Rich Silica (SRS) compound. The extremely high silica content delivers optimum grip in the wet and dry. It also has the added benefit of warming up quickly.

On the front tyres, the Storm-ST benefits from Inverted Front Grooves (IFG) that resist stepped-wear and cupping, ensuring smooth handling for the life of the tyre and improving wet weather braking. The Enhanced Aqua Flow (EAF) pattern of the rear tyre also increases your safety and confidence in wet conditions.

With all this (together with many other unique-to-Avon technologies) it's no wonder the Storm-ST has gained numerous approvals from the tough German testing organisation, the TUV.

well its like that... hopefully every one be careful the thai road is a dangerous place with killer cub kias, water bafalos, bus lorries anyhow cut lane..

my friend skidded at phuket and it costed him 10000 baht to tow to hatyai. that was then when petrol is still not too ex.. and 10 dollar per day storage not that bad lah.. could be worst.

thats why do all necessary maintanence in singapore before long trips.. and ride carefully. any repairs overseas is going to cost u alot more compared to singapore..

limited mechs who knows how to repair big bikes. limited spare parts --> parts more ex by a few tmes. towing charges over long ditances a few hundred kms compared to singapore a few km

so must be careful outside singapore.

and the oppotunity for ppl to chop carrot.. they don know u so why would they take care of u??

ride safe !!!! :thumb:

Yup, I've learnt how vulnerable and "helpless" we can be especially if anything happened to us or the bike Beyond the thai border. Your motor insurance will not cover u 80km beyond the border. Travel insurance covers 3rd party liabilities but you will need proper police report and assessment of damages, etc.

So if anything happen, you better pray u got the means or cash to bail you out, else its really very troublesome. limited medical facilities, Few big bikes mechanics, no spares, if no tow services or contacts u r quite screwed..

I am an insurance agent. I used to have a client who repairs bike at PML, but left for Thailand to marry a local girl there. I have lost contact with him .It could be him. Just want to make sure... Does his initials is TGP and he have a lot of tattoos?

Yup i believe he is the one..

how long can it last?10000km?20000km?

I thought a thought. But the thought I thought wasn't the thought I thought I thought. If the thought I thought I thought had been the thought I thought, I wouldn't have thought so much.
