Updates for from the OEM field.

Last Friday & Saturday send my bike for the 24k service. Apart of other parts changed foll are the ones improve the bike:

- Clutch fluid (no change on performance of course)

- Break fluid (breaks improved a lot)

- Valve clearance and tunning (much better performance)

After tunning the bike feels more responding to the thruttle. The shop mentioned consumption will also improve but honestly I do not care. If I was conserned about consumption I wouldn't have bought a Busa at the first place.

Cheers.

Hi,

Why not do the good thing now? The hose last a lifetime time.

Hi Razin,

The stock hoses last for 4 years according to the manual. When the time comes I'll do my own reseach before I decide to go for OEM or steel. Took me almost 3 weeks reseach for air-filter and coolant. The conclusion was to stay on OEM Air-filter and Water Wetter coolant. I sepnd way too much time on the bike research and I really have to consetrate on my business now.

Cheers

I mean the after market steel braided hose...They gave a lifetime guarantee...I think it's worth the investment...

Yeah I know what you ment. However I do not rush since the stock rubber hoses are still good for the next 2 years. After 2 years I will do a research befor I decide on OEM or Steel.

Just to give you an example, I was considering to put K&N air-filter which also comming with life time guarantee. However, after extensive research, came to conclusion that the K&N is not suitable for our bikes, and as a matter of fact is not suitable for any vehicle that has airbox sensor. The reason is that the K&N need to be oiled and particals of oil, in a long run, will damage the sensor. Infortunately the damage will not be constantly but gradually.

For break hoses I can not see how they could possibly damage the bike on the long run, but I will be more comfortable to install them after I do my research.

P.S.: As you guessed it, I'm very paricular with the maintainance of my bike and I do trust 99% the OEM products.

I think when it comes to brake hoses, the benefit is more in terms of the brake feel and response.

Of course we can stay on to OEM brake hose for a good 4 years before it gets worn out, then change it for steel brake hose that last a lifetime... of course hoping too that our bike can last that long... This simply means living with sucky brake feel and lousy brake response for 4 years... :)

A bike can last for very long time if it has good maintainence. The ZXR on my avatar is 18 years old and still going strong with zero problems (apart the normal wear due to her age i.e. Coulant pipes, fuel lines, Break lines, etc etc).

I am not sure if i would like to trust my life on a 18yr old bike no matter what maintainence its has done.. epsecially at 200 plus km/h. metals have properties that break down after time.. for eg a brand new steel rod u oil it every month andleave in in a dry cool place for 10 yrs.. the strength of the steel rod after 10 yrs if u measure it against another brand new steel rod. u will find that the 10yr old steel rod will weaken no matter how much u take care for it..

everything have a life span...

unless u change the entire engine casing , mainframe sub frame etc.. might as well get a new/newer bike

Lolz.. thats a good one! i wouldn't trust a 3yrs old R1 too..:cheeky:

i believe under well taking care. electricity stuff will goes faster den casing, mainframe etc.

tik of this way.. if u using a 165BHP beast.. u gotta have 330BHP of stopping power.do some searching. OEM hose will expand under high temperature due to prolong usage or expo to heat for some ages. since u a real care lover. ur machine i believe is under shade.. water less etc. OEm rubber will lasts ard 30mth on local weather with min usage :thumb:

Done the following:

Spark Plugs x 4

Engine Oil

Air Filter (Forgot to change it on 18K)

Oil Filter

Coolant (Changed to Water Wetter including flushing)

Valve ?? (I can not read clear on the receipt) x 2

Valve clearance

Oil Hose x 1

Plug O-ring x 4

Plug Hose washer x 4

Top set Gasket flange x 1

Injector Servicing

Engine tuning

Changed Break Fluid

Changed Clutch Fluid

Disassebled and greased Break Lever

Disassebled and greased Clutch Lever

Disassebled and greased Break Pedal

Millage of the bike at the time of service 22,506 km.

Bike was in for 2 solid days. DO NOT accept anyone to perform 24K service when bike is even warm. According to the Service Manual has to be 100% "cold' to get acurate measures on the valves.

injector servicing is highly suspicious..

do they even have the equipment for that?

they will need at least an ultrasonic cleaner along with a flow bench to test the injector after cleaning...

if they told you they used compressed air.. this so called cleaning is bullsh|t o_O

Engine tuning too.. how would they tune a stock engine i wonder... what kind of adjustments are they making? air/fuel or simply synchronising the throttlebodies?

There's no replacement for displacement except for a blower

Normally bike shop or even car servicing shop do not have the FI cleaner but they will send the injectors to shop that have them....

They adjust it by the screws next to air-intake. The used an equipment with mercury. They engine sounded not that perffect before they adjust. Now is much better.
